Niger Delta Monarchs Back Pipeline Surveillance Contract Renewal, Call For Peace by zero8zero(op): 5:16pm On Mar 23, 2025
The Association of Niger Delta Monarchs of Nigeria (ANDMON) has declared its full support for the federal government’s renewal of the pipeline surveillance contract awarded to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL).

The monarchs emphasized that the contract renewal comes at a crucial time when the region urgently needs enhanced oil production, reduced oil theft, and protection against pipeline vandalism.

Speaking at an interactive stakeholders’ meeting on amnesty, pipeline surveillance, and energy security in Abuja on Friday, the Chairman of ANDMON, King Frank Okurakpo, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for extending Tantita’s contract, noting that the company has played a vital role in curbing pipeline vandalism and ensuring the safety of critical oil infrastructure.

King Okurakpo highlighted Tantita Security Services’ unique approach of engaging local communities to protect oil assets, stressing that this strategy has significantly improved security across the Niger Delta.

“Mr. President has consistently put measures in place to fast-track the development of the Niger Delta,” the monarch said. “A clear example is the appointment of our son, Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro, a technocrat, grassroots mobilizer, and champion of development, as the head of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

This appointment has gladdened the hearts of our people, and the programme is already recording remarkable success across the region.”

The traditional rulers also urged the federal government to increase budgetary allocations and ensure the timely release of funds to sustain peace and empower ex-agitators.

They argued that such measures would boost economic growth and social stability in the region. Additionally, the monarchs commended the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engineer Mele Kyari, for his leadership in commercializing the NNPCL and stabilizing fuel prices.

They noted that the recent reduction in the prices of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) is a testament to the NNPCL management’s efficiency.

The forum also called for unity among Niger Delta indigenes, urging them to support and ensure the successful implementation of federal government policies that directly impact the region.

“We must work together to ensure that all government initiatives aimed at transforming the Niger Delta are fully implemented. Only through unity and cooperation can we achieve long-term peace and development,” the monarchs stated.

They reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the government, security agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and prosperous Niger Delta.

*WIKE WON THE BATTLE, BUT LOST THE WAR.*

I'll explain myself in the following paragraphs:

1. On the night PBAT announced the state of emergency, a group led by the SP visited Wike at his residence. I don't know the purpose of the visit, maybe to felicitate with him on his perceived victory.

2. Some pictures taken when they were leaving made it to the social media, and a particular one out of them got my attention.

3. In that picture, while the rest were in a lively mood, Wike cut a forlorn look. I couldn't stop looking at that picture. It was heavily pregnant with meaning and I desperately wanted to midwife it. Why is he still sad, ṣebi his enemy has been removed?

4. The acts that followed the declaration ––the immediate swearing-in of the administrator, the attorney-General's pathetic defence, the desperate and high level lobbying of the assembly members to approve the declaration, and the shameful 'voice quorum' method adopted by the assembly in approving it––gave me the breakthrough with the picture. What's so important with the state of emergency declaration in a state that's not at war?

5. That was PBAT's joker to masterfully nail Wike.

6. While it seemed both PBAT and Wike wanted the same thing- to get rid of Sim and gain control of Rivers, PBAT was also out to get Wike, as his growing power was becoming a discomfort for PBAT.

7. Wike wanted Sim and his deputy out by impeachment so that he can instal his boy, the speaker as the governor, thereby still firmly controlling the state, but PBAT had a different plan.

8. PBAT's plan is to DIRECTLY own Rivers, and render Wike irrelevant structurally and politically.

9. While Wike thought he was enjoying the federal power all this while, PBAT was actually equipping him to self-destroy.

10. PBAT played along up until the court ruling and just as Wike was about to pull the final string for his boys to impeach Sim, PBAT shocked him with the state of emergency announcement, sacking not only Sim but every of Wike's associates. He didn't ẹspẹrrẹdit.

11. PBAT then appointed an administrator with a military background who knows the terrain and politics of the state to answer directly to him. This move cuts Wike's grip on the state and completely uproots his structure.

12. Wike knows he's in trouble. Having single-handedly destroyed pdp and fought really hard to become the most-hated man in the state, PBAT has just stripped him of his last honour as the godfather- a leverage he has been using on PBAT.

13. There's a saying that, before you go on a revenge fight you must dig two graves. WIKE, already a persona non grata at home and about to be politically and structurally rendered irrelevant by PBAT, arrogantly dug only one and buried his enemy there. Where would his own remains be buried now?

14. There's only one true winner here and that's PBAT, the master of the dark arts of politics.

15. Why is the control of Rivers so important?

Economic - Rivers have largely been funding all Presidential elections in the country since Peter Odili

They want south south to be in crisis like their zone. We are sensible even though we have someone animals among us. We don't engage in nzogbu nzogbu ways. Only a fool we condemned the state of emergency cos that is the best the president can offer. It was very obvious the 27 lawmakers were determined to impeached Fubara and the crisis that will engulf can be severe. The opposition politicians just want it to happen so that they can in turn blame Tinubu for not proactive. Tinubu is not the regular president you can intimidate.
