m a 400-level student in one of Nigeria’s federal universities, and I’ve been actively learning programming for years. Recently, I decided to open a LinkedIn account to share my projects and build connections, but every single account I create gets restricted for no reason. Out of desperation, I went through the stress of getting a NIN card, hoping it would help with verification. The process was exhausting, but after all that effort, it still didn’t work. Now, I feel completely frustrated and discouraged. I just want to showcase my work and connect with people in tech, but it feels like I’m being locked out. Please, has anyone faced this issue before? What can I do? And are there other platforms where I can meet tech professionals and share my projects?

EniolaSaint:You need drivers license, most sites outside of this country that require verification reject NIN card for reasons I cannot understand, do you have voters card? Try that, but NIN though. You could email them and explain it out though, maybe they'll consider it. |

Most foreign websites don't accept the Nigerian NIN slip. You need either a driver's license or an international passport. Some also accept the old Nigerian national ID card issued during OBJ regime. And don't bother using a fake license because the barcode on the back of the license will show that it is fake. |

Forget about LinkedIn. But if you must, use a colored ID. Not the slip. As a programmer seeking to be noticed. Number 1: upload your projects to github. Every single original working code should be uploaded to your github account because that is your cv as a programmer. Make sure your github project is well organized. Number 2: Learn a bit of photoshop and polish the frontend of your codes. Place them on device mockups and share them on YouTube or Facebook. Use Hashtags. Make sure you use Hashtags. If you can use video editing apps to create a short clip that's your selling point. Only another programmer will be impressed by your code. Most folks will just look at your frontend appeal. That's your selling point, don't mess with it. I will advise that you consider using Instagram instead until LinkedIn issue is resolved. Use a lot of Hashtags bro. If you want to gain attention fast. Make a redesign of popular banking apps. And tag them. Or music app. Just redesign something that already exists. Add something new and be creative. |
