Please assist… I’m a first class student. Already gotten MSc admission to Uni Kassel but I can’t find where it is indicated on the new visa appointment portal to apply as category A. My resumption is on 1st of October. I also want to know if it’s okay to open my block account with EXpatrio while I arrange for fund to transfer into it in few weeks time. I need your advice please😌 |

Dotmanmighty:You just apply on the new Portal. They caregorise you themselves based on the answers in the entry form and your documents. |

Hello everyone, this is going to be a long post so I am sorry in advance, please bear with me. Firstly, I am grateful to all the kind and generous people on this platform who constantly share genuine and good advice regarding the whole visa processing. As someone who has been silently observing this thread for the past two months to monitor visa updates, I am simply amazed by how selfless and encouraging people can be on here, it's really motivating. Thanks once again everyone. Please I'd appreciate your kind inputs and advice, my questions are thus: 1.) I applied for Category B study visa for masters program on the 21st of December 2024, on the old platform and I got a reference number, of which I was told the waiting period was over a year. So, since I was sent a confirmation email that my booking was successful, I just want to be sure of this, I have no business with the new visa application portal, right? 2.) Also, since the waiting period was initially almost 2 years, I had mentally calculated that my appointment date would probably be sent around 2026, however as the updates here mentioned that the embassy was speeding up the process recently, I began to wonder if it won't be too late to wait for 2026 winter admission because my appointment date might have been sent before I get my admission letter, so I was considering applying this April for 2025 winter admission, which starts in October 2025 for my desired institution, is that a good choice? 3. Is there any slightest possibility that the embassy can actually get to December 2024 this year with the current pace? And if my appointment date is sent after my school has resumed for winter session, will my visa still be issued provided I have all the required documents? 4. I don't remember clearly, but I think when booking for the study visa appointment, based on my initial premonition about the waiting period, I had chosen October 2026 as intended start date for the winter admission, so if I gain admission for 2025 winter session instead and get my appointment date, will I be queried during the interview for writing a different start date or does it not matter? I anticipate your kind responses and sorry once again for the long post. Thanks in advance. |

Deebeloved:1. Yes, you have nothing to do with the new portal. 2. It's not really predictable now, it's best to just have an admission at hand. 3. Again, it's unpredictable, nobody knows. And I'm not exactly sure how the thing works, if the appointment date comes after resumption, you would either need admission for the next semester or some letter saying you can join later, idk, someone else can explain better. 4. I don't think it will matter, cause the waiting time was 2 years, so it'll be understandable you calculated with that time. |

Dotmanmighty:There's currently not preference basis for booking regarding first class students. Only DAAD and German government scholarship holders. |
| Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nobody: 6:17pm On Mar 24, 2025 |
Bolex247:The other two alternatives are scholarship or Letter of commitment from someone in Germany. |

Please can I apply for visa before funding my block account? I should be in Category A based on my class of degree but since the new portal doesn’t clearly categorize it, I want someone to advise me Thanks 🥰 |

Bolex247:Your wife can not join you, unless you guys apply for admission together. It takes around 19 months to get a. Appointment for family reunion visa, and another 6-9 months for verification and approval. So think through it. Use DAAD.de to search for your course. You'll see the schools and their method of application. It's straightforward |

Bolex247:Your spouse can join you in Germany, but as a Student you are not considered as having sufficient means to Support your spouse. This is because Student work has limited hours 20 weekly. Therefore you do not have the statutory powers to request that the Government grant your Spouse a family reunion visa. On the other hand, your spouse can join you in Germany by applying also as a student, any course will do. If she gets it she can stay in Germany under the terms of being a student, not your wife (of course she will be your wife but her right to remain in the country is based on being a student not by being married to you. Simply put, you do not have sufficient granted powers to support your wifes relocation. If you have more questions fel free |

Joanlaura:Wow congrats, when did you apply and for what category Don’t fret just make sure that you have everything in this checklist https://nigeria.diplo.de/ng-en/2691114-2691114 Depending on the course you’re going for you might want to brush up a bit on a few points as questions would be asked |

Good morning everyone. Please I’d like to know if the document English as a medium of instruction is accepted as proof of English proficiency for visa application purposes. Also must one go with both BECE and WASSCE for visa application? |

| Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nobody: 7:11am On Mar 25, 2025 |
Ellenony:This is dependent on how your admission was issued. If your school requests for it in your admission letter, you have to provide it. Only your WAEC is enough |
| Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nobody: 7:12am On Mar 25, 2025 |
mysticlover:Well it's clearly stated. There's no preference so far. You can try though, if you have BA and SL ready |

You either get a letter of commitment from someone in Germany, or you get a blocked account There's no other way around it Bolex247: |

The earliest you should be applying to is Winter semester 2026 which will start in October 2026 (Applications will open January 2026 for most schools) That's your safest bet Embassy Is still in July 2023, before they will even reach December 2023 Chances of them reaching December 2024 by this year is very minimal And you have no business with the new portal anyway If you get admission, enrol immediately,If you get your appointment after your school has resumed, you just need your enrollment letter for the next semester you're good to go So just forget about this year, your target should be next year Deebeloved: |

Good morning my wonderful people, this thread has been a great help for me since I joined. I appreciate everyone that has been contributing in one way or the other. Please I booked for AD since July 24th,2024 using the old website. I would like to know if it's still functioning or I need to apply on the new portal? And if it is still functioning, with the pace the embassy is going with AD now, what are the likely date or Month do you think I can fall on so I can plan towards that, as I have started applying to schools already and working towards SL as well. I would appreciate your input and advice @Hannania and others. Thanks as I await your kind response.
