I would like to encourage and appeal to all those that have tried to derail the thread by posting nonsense that they should please break the law right in front of the cameras so that we can see if they actually work. |

Fine of 50k is much nah this will give room for violators trying to bribe their way out…10k first offender,20k for second violation and 50k subsequent would have been better.breaking speeed limits and traffic light should not carry the same fine too |

We copy nonsenically in this country. Limit is 60kmh amd you're fining people for going 61,62? ENKR! Even the countries you're copying have margin of allowance/error. In the UK where I hold a driver's license, it is 10%+2. For example, on the M1 motorway, except for construction, accident and weather zones limit is 70mph. Before I see fine I have to be doing at least 79mph (70+7+2). And this is for a proper highway, not the jankara roads this article has listed. Evidence: https://www.confused.com/car-insurance/guides/speed-camera-tolerances https://www.connexionfrance.com/practical/driving-in-france-what-are-the-acceptable-error-margins-of-speed-cameras/704562 |

eepeepook:You obviously don't own a car in Lagos. If you do, you won't type this. Once the speed limit or camera device captures your vehicle plate number or license or anything that pinpoints it. No body will enforce it physically, it is already enforced electronically or computerly (if there is any word like that). Na when you wan renew your papers na then body go tell you! |

revelation2013:There are people on this thread that should not be taken seriously. They are not here to make a serious point, they are here to be negative, even if what they are posting makes no sense. Arguing with them is a complete waste of time. |

It’s incredibly silly how they install these cameras but don’t put a speed limit banner along the route. 1. How do I know I should do a 60kmph on a road if I’m not informed before getting on said road. 2. There are also no banners indicating “speed cameras ahead”. 3. How do I show proof that I wasn’t speeding if I don’t have a dashcam? 4. How is N50,000 a sensible fine? Do they know what the obtainable minimum wage is? |

This was part of my entertainment when they began on the Third Mainland Bridge during the Fashola era. Some people came with the usual excuse that there were no speed limit signs, but immediately other Twitter users countered them and said that there were. As someone appeared and said that there were no signs, so also would someone appear and say that there were signs. Some people went the extra step of actually taking pictures of the signs. There have also been speed limit signs on the Lekki Expressway since it was rebuilt in 2011. Everybody knows this and everybody knows that those people are not to be taken seriously. I'll attach the photos of the speed limit signs when Nairaland allows me.

This isl also why there is a focus on faded number plates. When I went for my road worthiness check the camera could not capture my number plates. We had to paint the digits. I now have to order new plates for this reason. |
