"Always turn off all your appliances when you’re not around!" – A Nigerian lady warns after her fan caught fire right before her eyes.

A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to advise people on the importance of turning off their appliances when they’re not around, especially store owners. She shared her experience after a fan in her shop suddenly caught fire while she was present.

In the video, the fan can be seen burning, despite appearing to be in good condition.

It's fake.i got a fake fan abt 2 year ago,me dat I'm using solar the fan suddenly sparked and coil got burnt.since I was still in warranty,I form 1man soldier that day,I later added 5k and they gave me this same OX fan as replacement.since then,could never burn.tho b4 they sold the 1st fan to me,as at then,it was the cheapest of 14k,while this ox was around 25k. I felt the cheaper ,the better.omo I come get sense. Buy original,not cheapest.warehouse billonaires are all over trade fair,recoupling condemed fans as brand new

Nigerians need to imbue maintainance culture in all they do!
These Fans often experience lub failure during the dry season. At least, once in a year service would have prevent this accident! Let us stay informed!

During my uni days at FUTMINNA, came back and my room was smoky. My ceiling fan got burnt 😥, it was noisy prior to that 🤧, I never put it off through out the four years it served me 🤷🤦.

Why set the fan on fire?


I'm surprised 99% of people here couldn't detect that. Why in a hurry to comment instead of observing the picture, environment, and the person carrying the fan.

If you see a fan burning in your house, first thing will be fear, then you put off the fire or move the fan outside quickly ( apply wisdom to uncover the truth), but this one was doing video, even in the sitting room.

We have failed in this country, I'm Disappointed, even first class graduates couldn't phantom that out.

You dey call that nonsense fan? Now i know why houses burn in Nigeria,,, substandard appliances.

Especially standing fan. I remembered how fire caused by a standing fan destroyed a two storey building several years ago.

If you have one, becareful with it

1. The fan is fake
2. The service time of the fan was really long it couldn’t resist it
3. Because it’s fan doesn’t it doesn’t need to rest on intervals.
4. Always allow your appliances get proper ventilation, just imagine how tight that shop is, with no proper windows and the door is closed.

She is right. I think consumer protection agency in Nigeria are the most useless government agencies in the history of Nigeria.

I am certain that if investigated that fan can't pass both safety and quality checks, but they have flooded our markets with it. Secondly, housing and development ministry are as useless as they come. In functioning world, housing agency are supposed to check the electrical and other connections in every home to ensure that they are up to standard: for instance they have to check that at any given time the power output is constant and within approved limits.

But of course them and NEPA are one of the silent killers in Nigeria. Endangering the lives of Nigeria at every turn.
