oluseeno:Pls pls and pls don’t make that mistake of going to open another ds160 like he’s telling you, go with the ds160 you used in filling the appointment because it must match else you won’t even get to the interview section. All these questions have been brought up severally and have been answered, go to page 123-125 and get your answered with proofs, it’s also in the avits website. I repeat, the ds160 application number you use in filing your appointment application MUST be the same, if you ds160 is for Lagos and you appointment is in Abuja, go with it and tell them wen you get there, they will adjust it. |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Efetobore1980(m): 8:03am On Mar 27, 2025 |
oluseeno:Hello. Yes fill another ds-160 to match your Abuja appointment. If you don't know how to update it just login to your avits profile and attach the new ds-160 asking avits to update it for you. After 2-days go and print another appointment letter and it will match with your new ds-160 . My answers on NL is empirical answers , not copy and paste or hearsay. It's what i know and have done. GOOD LUCK. |

Good morning house. Please I applied sometimes in 2022 and 2023 but was denied visa. I want to now apply but where I’m worried about using the same school cos it’s the same school I used in both. Do you think I will be advisable to apply with the same school or it doesn’t matter? 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Efetobore1980(m): 8:27am On Mar 27, 2025 |
Morexxy:Hello. Your F1- visa applications were not denied because of the school. Thousands of students (world-wide) have used the same school and got visas . Except if the school is not SEVP-certified school that offers programs that makes you eligible to enroll for F-1 and M-1 visas. Work on your 1. Proof of funds . 2. Proof of ties. 3. Purpose of your study. 4. Your over all ds-160 profile, and 5. Post-graduation plans. Your ability to express yourself in the presence of the visa officer is also of utmost importance. GOOD LUCK. |

Efetobore1980:Thank you so much🙏🏽 I was worried it might be a red flag to the consular for applying to the same school the third time as if I get different mission like ‘why that particular school or state’ cos how they think ehn 😂 |

Good morning house. Please I need your advice on my visa interview preparation. I applied for a professional study in master's in "applied machine intelligence" with concentration in "AI for Finance". I work with a financial investment company as a financial/administrative manager, I also lecture part time students in my area of disciplinary in accounting. I already have master's and PhD in accounting and business education. Job experience is over 15years progressing from secondary school teacher to my present job in my field of specialization. My husband is going to be my sponsor, he works in an oil multinational company in Nigeria, privilege to travel round the world due to his type of job. I also have a scholarship of $25,000 from the university, though I have admissions into three other universities, but I choose this particular one because the area of concentration blind with my career. I have a stepdaughter schooling at Georgia Southern university in US. My question now is: (1). Should I declare to the visa officer that I hold a degree in PhD? (2). Stating only my husband as the sponsor while I have been working for 15years, is that not a red flag? (3). Saying I have a family member in US if ask, hope is not also a red flag? Because in 2018 I have once applied for a visiting visa to visit her but was denied, since then I have not gone to America embassy again, except for my husband and two of our children that went visiting. Please I need your sincere input and advice to my visa application. My school resumption date is in August 2025. |

Princess080:Hello You have a very good academic, job, and family profile ( resumé ) but your denial of the year 2018 will keep hunting you. US embassy are not moved or freaked again with your good (family/personality/academic ) history once you have been denied and annotated as an impending immigrant . The only thing that can bail you out is genuine intention and how to communicate it very well with the consular because you have all other qualifications. 1. Yes declare your real profiles in your ds-160 including your Phd degree. 2. It is not a red flag. Your husband (followed by your parents) has the first responsibility of taking care of your well-being. 3..It is not a red-flag to mention your family in the US. GOOD LUCK |

What you should focus on is why your visa was refused twice and the things that have changed since your last refusal. Morexxy: |

Lifeisforliving:Select the earliest date available then you’d see a button on your appointment confirmation page to request for an expedited appointment. Click the button, explain why you are making the request, indicate your program start date and SEVIS ID in the content of the request, and attach your signed I-20 form. |

Princess080:There's nothing wrong stating you have a PhD. I will use my case as an example. I have a Masters from the US and moved to Canada for my PhD. Upon completing my program, I decided I needed to return back to the US and wasn't interested in academia as such, I decided to come back for another Masters. I declared everything and was granted a visa alongside my wife a dependent visa despite our marriage being less than a month at the time of our interview. The question I was asked centered around my program and why I wanted to move back to the US which I answered in all sincerity. My living/schooling in the US in the past could have added to it. One thing I would suggest though is please be sincere in all your doings. |

Can someone also do this if the start date is August 2025? I understand it's not 90 days to resumption yet but there are no close dates available for Lagos. And I'm thinking of going through the expedited route. Can someone request to expedite when the resumption is August. I noticed you mentioned May. LCMedia: |

Hi everyone, Please forgive me if this is the wrong forum to ask this question. I have filled ds-160 and selected Lagos as place of interview this is for B2 visa (so no chance for expedite). I have also started filling the appointment form on usvisappt website and selected Lagos as place of interview. But after payment I realized there is no date available in Lagos but there dates available in Abuja. Please can I pick the Abuja location for interview and there won’t be any problem on interview day regarding this? |

What are likely interview questions for H1b visa? Pls share yr interview questions. Thanks |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by JMG12: 12:47pm On Mar 28, 2025 |
Yes, you can change your interview location from Lagos to Abuja, and it generally won’t cause any problems, even though your DS-160 lists Lagos — as long as your appointment is booked in Abuja and you show up there. Omotolani26: |

Omotolani26:Hello. You are supposed to wait until there are dates in Lagos because that is what you indicated in the beginning of your visa application. Let's even assume that you wan to play a fast one on the embassy and picked Abuja post then i expect you to fill another Ds-160 based on Abuja and update it via opening of ticket in your AVITS profile so that your new ds-160 will tally with your appointment letter. Deliberately doing visa application against the US embassy stipulated policy or rules is enough for a visa denial. Good LucK. |

Name and location of the company/ organization that you will work with. Your anticipated role and job title with said company/organization and name of your supervisor/HR contact Go with your educational degrees and/or licenses. If the job requires a US licensing examination, go with proof that you have passed the necessary exam(s) How did you hear/learn about the job and the interview process Future professional plans Employment contract/offer letter Previous job and work experience Know how much your annual income will be Previous US travel history I797 approval receipt and other docs that the company sent to you eg LCA if applicable Although H1B visa is a dual-intent visa, you may still be required to demonstrate home ties to Nigeria so be prepared for that. kennisman: |

Thanks. I am also waiting to hear back from them . I have used the live chat like 3 times and they keep telling me it had been escalated to their technical team. They are so slow. I even sent email. No response. Wealth1990: |

Seeking Advice on MS in AI/Cybersecurity/CS & Cost-Saving Strategies Hey everyone, I’m 28 years old and have been a software engineer for 7 years. I’m financially stable and have about $80k liquid so I will be self-sponsoring my graduate studies. I hold a BSc in Computer Science and want to apply for a Master’s in AI, Cybersecurity, or Computer Science in the U.S. I am just about to start this process, my questions are 1. What are my best options for schools? 2. How can I save money on tuition, student aids and living costs? 3. Any advice on securing funding or navigating the application process would be greatly appreciated! |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Taal17: 9:27pm On Mar 28, 2025 |
jerrywanyama007:First I say, ypu might be starting too late in the year for Fall admission 2025. Typically start researching about 18months before the school starts. Right now March April is when most students are getting feedback on when their application fopor admission. So you can start now for Fall 2026 For best schools..research online. Put in your course and see what schools come up Look in tour network for who is working in the AI cybersecurity space and see where they went to university . Take time to study regions in the US, the university is one thing, the environment is another. Funding is typically school specific you can get research assissitant, graduate assistant roles that can come with some tuition waiver and stipends. Phd course however tend to get more funding though. Post grad studies is not a sprint..it's a marathon so you can take your time. |
