You rightly echoed that the Su57 is supposedly an air superiority aircraft..it primary job is to asert air dominace over Ukrainian skies by destroying Ukrainian airforce jets, while allowing other strike aircraft like the Su35 to conduct strikes against ground targets.

The SU-57 is an "Air Superiority aircraft" that's it primary role.. it may have a secondary role of attacking targets on the ground..but it main job is to asert dominace on the air..

Yet like you pointed out for reasons best know to Russia the Su57 ain't use for the reasons it was primary created for, instead the expensive piece of machinery is now conducting bombing runs deep inside Russia territory, A task a lesser jet like the Su35 can do effectively..

The big question is why is the supposedly best aircraft in the Russian inventory, not getting into the thick of the battle??. Your answer is as good as mine.. The Su 57 is simply not good enough to asert dominace over the Ukrainian airspace. Thence it flight paths are restricted to the Russian airspace or Ukrainian territory close to the Russian border where air-defences are not available..

The same way the Russian 4th generation tanks the T-14 Armata instead of being used in an offensive assault it's primary role, it was instead relegated to an artillery systems firing shells from a fixed portion when its suppose to be leading Russian assaults in the front lines..

The harrier and yak 141 use very different vertical lift systems. They are not the same. It is the f35 and yak 141 that are the same.

Lockheed Martins purchased the plans to the yak 141 and then went on to use it to build the f35.
