Exceed15:Debt accumulated over the years since 2006. We are in debt because most of our revenue comes from oil and we don't control the price of oil so we can't raise enough money for our needs from oil. Replace oil with copper, cotton , etc and you are describing most African countries. It is not to excuse apc..but the things that are needed to reduce debt dependency are things that most Nigerians won't like. |

SoftSport:Mumu talk like a child promised some candy. We are in the second year of the evil administration of your demigod, yet the suffering is increasing instead of easing. You and your fellow Zombie supporters are still singing the same tune ever since. Unfortunately, the fake and foolish white haired professor who thinks himself a little god in the eyes of his cultists followers and tribesmen have suddenly lost his voice after calling the wife of a sitting president "Shepopotamus" in support of calls for their resignation because he removed this same subsidy. I Spit on you people's forehead. |

nairalanda1:... during Jonathan time when it was 140 naira to a dollar..bag of rice 10,000 naira, indomie noodles 50 naira, fresh egg 50 naira, fresh tomatoes 50 naira, cup of rice 30 naira, cup of beans 20 naira, cup of garri 10 naira, palm oil 75 cl.. 250 naira, coke and soft drinks 50 naira..but during this tinubu time.. which exchange rate is 1560 naira to a dollar...bag of rice 90k, fresh egg 250 naira, fresh tomatoes 200 naira, onions 100 naira, cup of rice 500 naira , cup of beans 500 naira, cup of garri 200 naira, palm oil 75 cl..2,000 naira, coke and soft drinks..500 naira...so you can see the huge difference in the prices during when the exchange rate was 140 naira to a dollar and 1560 naira to a dollar..so when the naira is strong and has value price of foodstuffs will be cheap |

The lower fuel price didn't lead to lower transportation cost but when it goes back up, they want to increase transport cost. SMH |

ufotunang:And a lot of people were complaining about how expensive those things were. Also we were in the second oil boom..from 2011 to 14 oil prices were over 100 dollars per barrel. Same thing happened back in 1973 to 82 wherein a loaf of bread cost 50 kobo and a cow cost 90 naira. Once the oil prices fell, so went the naira. That is why our leaders are bad leaders . They keep our naira dependent on the price of oil. Oga, I am.not here to defend tinubu. Or to attack GEJ. If you want a strong naira , the answer is industrialize and export industrialized products. Not relying on oil and pretending all is well when the prices go up. |
| Re: MRS, Others Raise Petrol Prices To N930 In Lagos, N960 In North by nairalanda1(m): 9:31am On Mar 31, 2025 |
unscripted:Okay , it's like you want more subsidies. Well the subsidies of the preceding decades caused a debt crisis and the destruction of the refining capacity of our country that necessitated their removal. And it is thanks to the economic team.of the GEJ admin that I finally understood that. You don't have to support a party to know how destructive consumption subsidies are. |
| Re: MRS, Others Raise Petrol Prices To N930 In Lagos, N960 In North by nairalanda1(m): 9:36am On Mar 31, 2025 |
fixedhollies:Yeah because tinubu doesn't want us to get off our dependency on oil. Oil has a problem. We don't control it's price. So we cannot increase prices to say 140 dollars per barrel by ourselves because our buyers will simply just go elsewhere. Result, we never have enough money and are always in debt Changing our economy from being dependent on oil means a lot of hard choices that tinubu don't want to.make. So.here we are.. |

nairalanda1:ChatGPT You said: Rewrite. the issue here has nothing to do with subsidy , subsidy is gone and we all understand this , you spoke about why our productive activity must increase and we export more to improve our balance of payment and exchange rates.. Now we all prayed for our local refineries to come on line so that sector demands for dollar will reduce , and we can also export refined petroleum product.. the increases our productivity and earnings in that sector , improves our exchange rate , and also lower prices for us locally .. this seem like a working plan with the dangote refinery and other local refineries. Now comes NNPC , playing games with the local market , further frustrating their efforts. Lieing that out refineries are working , now crowing it with selling crude for dollar to the local market.. Now the solution we all prayed for has been cancelled by the NNPC , dollar rate will continue to shoot up due to the demand locally to purchase crude .. the marketers will pass the burden to us , inflation will continually increase.. we are back to square one .. Why are you defending this government . ChatGPT said: The issue here has nothing to do with subsidies—those are gone, and we all understand that. You discussed the importance of increasing our productive activities and boosting exports to improve our balance of payments and exchange rates. We all hoped that local refineries would come online to reduce the sector's demand for dollars and allow us to export refined petroleum products. This would increase productivity and earnings in the sector, strengthen the exchange rate, and lower local fuel prices. With the Dangote refinery and other local refineries, this seemed like a viable plan. However, the NNPC is now sabotaging these efforts by manipulating the local market, falsely claiming that our refineries are operational, and further compounding the problem by selling crude in dollars to the local market. As a result, the very solution we prayed for has been undone. The continued local demand for dollars to purchase crude will push the exchange rate higher, forcing marketers to pass the cost onto consumers, leading to relentless inflation. We're back to square one. So why are you defending this government's actions? |
