Muhammadu Sa'ad Abubakar CFR (Arabic: محمد سعد أبو بكر) (born 24 August 1956) is the 20th Sultan of Sokoto. As Sultan of Sokoto, he is considered the spiritual leader of Nigeria's Muslims.[1][2]

Abubakar is the heir to the two-century-old throne founded by his ancestor, Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio (1754–1817), leader of the Maliki school of Islam and the Qadiri branch of Sufism.[1

On 2 November 2006, Abubakar ascended the throne following the death of his brother, Muhammadu Maccido, who died on ADC Airlines Flight 53.[7]

As the Supreme Leader of Muslims in Nigeria, he holds the position of Chief Moonsighting Officer, responsible for determining the official start and end of the Ramadan fast across Nigeria[8]

As the Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar is the leader of the Qadiriyya sufi order, which is the most important Muslim position in Nigeria and senior to the Emir of Kano, the leader of the most populous Tijaniyya sufi order.

Just posting this for people to know and understand.

1. A Sufi can never be the leader of Muslims. Sufi are not Muslim. They're a sect claiming to be Muslim. They're the bedrock of voodoo, magic and Shir.

2. Sultan is political position. Hausa political position. Sultan is the leader of All Emirs in the North. To make it easier, just as we have kings in South West, we now have another person who's a King to all those kings.

3. Besides, as a sultan..his only religious duty is SIGHING OF MOON AND JUST RAMADAN? WTH!! Is that what prophet Muhammad did, is that just what the caliphs that came after him did?

4. This sultan post is hereditary..it's restricted to some families.. is that what Amir Muslim was during the era of the prophet?

It's these sufi sympathetic individuals calling themselves scholars (Sarafa gbadebo, alaro, fodlu, qomaoru, habbeb marzkaz, rasheedi Mustafa and other kafir like them) that enthroned sultan as amir Muslims.

He's only amir of the Hausas.

Are you saying there are many ignorant Nigeria Muslims? Who are they and are you one of them?

But the news never mentioned ignorant or non-ignorant Nigeria Muslims!
