In your first paragraph, you made a comparison between my assertion that Russia should have respected Ukraine sovereign rights of freedom of association. And the Cuba United States debacle, let's be truthful The United States did not stop Cuba from having any sort of association with any country the Soviet Union inclusive.. at the time of the crisis. Soviet Union and Cuba had a good and robust diplomatic relationship..
The confrontation is called the Cuban Missile Crisis" It all started when American deployments of nuclear missiles in Italy and Turkey were countered by the Soviet Union deployments of nuclear missiles in Cuba.
These are two distinct scenarios. The US didn't initiate the naval blockage of Cuba based on the relationship it had with the Soviets but because it wanted to stop the flow of more Soviet Union nukes into Cuba...

In your second paragraph, you said no country is neutral by default, well Switzerland has the oldest policy of military neutrality in the world; it has not participated in a foreign war since its neutrality was established by the Treaty of Paris in 1815.

Also, Nigeria did not give up its territory without a fight. Russia struggling in Ukraine has nothing to do with his military might.. The US struggled in the vast jungle and rice paddies in northern Vietnam.. did the war make the US any less a military superpower?? Russian alone has more tanks than the entire European military armies, it military spending dwarfs the rest by a ratio 10 to 1.. and it's also has the biggest defence industry in the European continent..its has a large military and a huge population to mobilise if eventually she wants to fight a large-scale war like in ww2.. Also, Russia has nuclear weapons, and Putin hasn't been shy in reminding the world that they do posses this weapons of mass destruction.
Russia is and will always remain a formidable foe..

Europe has every right to be weary of Russia and Putin. The dude just invaded its neighbour starting the largest invasion since WW2, and you don't want people to be paranoid??

Am happy that European nations are now thinking more about military capabilities and collective defence. The idea of relying on a country across the Atlantic is mere bull!St. The security of EUROPE should be guaranteed by Europeans
Most EU nations have pledged to increase defence spending. Germany, in particular, has started efforts to increase its military and offensive capabilities.. The EU as an bloc as also introduced the "Rearm Europe program" With defence spending of over €800 billion..

All this are because of Russia invasion of Ukraine..
