Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, has declared his intention to report former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, to Igbo traditional leaders following her recent comments directed at him. Nwaebonyi labeled her remarks as disrespectful and an unprecedented attack on his character.

Nwaebonyi expressed his outrage over Ezekwesili allegedly telling him to “shut up” and branding him a “hooligan.” He stated that such disrespect extends beyond himself, impacting the revered institution of Igbo red-cap chiefs.

“I am going to take her up within the Igbo traditional leadership because it has never happened,” Nwaebonyi asserted. “This is unacceptable,” he said regarding Ezekwesili’s comments. Nwaebonyi also questioned her political credentials, contrasting his election to the Senate, where he received the support of over 500,000 voters, with her lack of electoral success, including not having won a ward-level election.
