She was right to condemn child labour.
She was right to protect the child.
She was right to hold her accountable.
She was right to raise awareness.

You and others are not right to bully her. Calling her cruel and uncompassionate.
And Adetoun was not right to cave in, as she did.

A child should not be waking up at 3AM to sweep an estate when they should be resting and preparing for school. The mother continues to give birth, and she must care for all of them in this crazy economy. Enough to rebuke her for not being responsible.

But it doesn’t matter to us all.

So he tells us that the child is working out of economic necessity. And that the mother needs compassion.

So others will argue that the focus of the video, should have been on the economic hardship that people have to endure.
Instead, Adetoun was just a villain, an oppressor, as she could have engaged the cleaner/mother privately and not publicly shame her, or be condescending in her approach. she had not cared about the dignity of the mother, and she only humiliated her, rather than empower her.

Adetoun capitulated coz the validation from social media matters, and she was crying and kneeling. A very manipulative lots.

Folks pushed her to reveal her performative righteousness.

And because validation matters to her- she rewarded this woman after the backlash. It alleviated her immediate struggles.

The country shows its false outrage, as though her situation is not the lots of millions of people in the country.

Adetoun received more outrage than we give to those who orchestrated policies that have entrenched sufferings.

Now, there are other struggling women who have not made their children work, but remain unseen and unsupported. And nobody cares about them.

Now, Onakoya, who is another person wired for validation sees an opportunity, to enrich his own social capital.

There are several children, women in this country, with much worse fate. But they are not on social media or the source of any social capital: Mr Onakoya can’t care.
Why not send an open letter to Tunde advising him to start combing the nooks and crannies of Nigeria looking for children to help.
He is enriching his own social capital according to you. What are you doing to your own.?

Perhaps, wailing on a faceless forum will enrich yours too.

The pain in that woman's eyes brought me to tears...

I don't see this as child endangerment.. many of us have done similar things to help our parents..

Back in the day.. I used to hawk items in the market after school.. even before I was 10 years old..

I used to hawk in the park before school and after school.. I still remember the look on my parents face, disappointment, sad.. feeling like they were failures and unable to provide for us.. but us kids were excited to go out there and hustle grin

My dad, sometimes would not look us in the eyes.. my mom's face sometimes with the facial expression I am seeing from the woman in this
video..

But that's in the past now.. I thank The Lord Jesus..

The lady that videod her wanted to shame her but she was shamed instead.. and the woman and her daughter have been receiving outpouring support worldwide..

Lord, may our enemies that want to shame us, be shamed and may our destiny helpers locate us in the process.. Amen 🙏

You are never wise
You just rants here for nothing and I'm so sorry you must be a fool..
I'm a father and I understand how hard it is to sacrifice your child's comfort for assistance ( fools like you calls this child labor which )
I was once in that child's shoe and guess what ?
It was what shaped us to be this strong.. my own is even worse, I go to carry palm nuts as early as 4 - 5am in the bush because we had to trek a very long distance and me and twin brother hate getting late for school.. what about the days we had to go weed our neighbors compound although not because we are hungry but we just felt the need to assist our parents with the bills by buying ourselves some little things we need for school.
Just shut your mouth there you Idiot, the nonsense wokeism that is destroying the west is the same thing you are capping right here..
I went through that route but my kids are not going through that because I am at the stage where my children don't need to follow me to work so we can feed together..
You want to talk about the time ?
I'm so sure you must be in one small town because I get up from my bed as early as 3am anytime I'm in Lagos..
Do you think if that woman is financially buoyant she would wish her child go through that pain, mind you she is not leaving that child to do the work alone...
You are truly insane for this nonsense you put out here..
Oloriburuku Omo ofo oloshi alainiran.. I'm angry so much right now..
I'm so sure that woman is going to cry the hell as soon as they are out of that place 💔
Where is your humanity ?
How many people have you helped in your life you fool ?
Do you even care to know the pain this people go through just to eat once or at most twice in a day? But here you here judging, typing trash all in the name of justifying a gutter behavior.. I pity your future generations, ozuor😡😡

That woman who made a mockery of that woman and went ahead to post the video online should be arrested and prosecuted. She is a very stupid woman. Humiliating someone in such manner all in the name of activism is absolutely nonsense and no one deserves that
Nonsense talk, She did not ask the woman to breed children she can't raise and asking your child to work at 4am is child abuse, so she did the right thing. I can't remember my parents waking me up at 4am to go to work with them, however I remember going to my Dad's office at working hours during holiday period just for us to leave the house.

Prenonjebose:
God bless you, Tunde. I watched the stupid video made by that mean woman. It was annoying seeing the poor mother being embarrassed by a fellow woman. To correct the mother in front of the daughter, without hearing her out, was one thing, then making and posting a video of her over sabi action was uncalled for, and a testament of her meanness.
All these adults behaving like kids.
Most parents cry inside of them when they see their children assisting in their parental duties. They don't want it, and it does not give them joy.
But many good hearted children do understand the challenges facing their parents, and would offer to help. Even, some of those who don't render help, often see the efforts of their parents, and would often celebrate them, when the time comes.
You could see the girl's worried expression, when she saw how her mother was being scolded by this stranger.
Once again, thank you, Tunde
Another nonsense talk, if you are not capable of raising a child then don't bring them to the world, because all you are doing is bringing them to come and suffer with you, which is unfair.

I totally disagree with you, what the woman did was child forced labour which is illegal, children are not allowed to work but should be in school, what your parents did is understandable because they were poor but still illegal.
