Japan is a country that is making the largest amount of investment to the United States, so we wonder if it makes sense for (Washington) to apply uniform tariffs to all countries.Shigeru Ishiba Prime Minister of Japan (Trump) has preserved a number of important elements of our relationship, the commercial relationship between Canada and the United States. But the fentanyl tariffs still remain in place, as do the tariffs for steel and aluminum.Mark Carney Prime Minister of Canada President Trump's announcement of universal tariffs on the whole world, including the EU, is a major blow to the world economy.Ursula Von der Leyen President, European Union Commission Ireland does not believe in tariffs - Ireland hasn't started this.Michael Martin Prime Minister of Ireland The tariffs are wrong... We will do everything we can to work towards an agreement with the United States, with the goal of avoiding a trade war that would inevitably weaken the West in favor of other global players.Giorgia Meloni Prime Minister of Italy Latin America, including Colombia, benefits primarily from Trump's tariff policy.Gustavo Petro President of Colombia China firmly opposes this and will take countermeasures to safeguard its own rights and interests," the ministry said, as the world's largest economies look set to spiral deeper into a trade war that stands to upend global supply chains.China's Ministry of Commerce The Brazilian government is evaluating all possible actions to ensure reciprocity in bilateral trade, including resorting to the World Trade Organization, in defense of legitimate national interestsBrazil's Foreign Ministry Spain will protect its companies and workers and will continue to be committed to an open world.Pedro Sanchez Prime Minister of Spain New Zealand's interests are best served in a world where trade flows freely ... New Zealand's bilateral relationship with the U.S. remains strong. We will be talking with the administration to get more information, and our exporters to better understand the impact this announcement will have.Todd McClay New Zealand's Trade Minister The Federal Council acknowledges the US tariff decisions. It will quickly determine the next steps. The country's long-term economic interests are paramount. Adherence to international law and free trade remain core values.Karin Keller-Sutter President of Switzerland As the global trade war has become a reality, the government must pour all its capabilities to overcome the trade crisis.Han Duck-Soo Acting President, South Korea A trade war is in nobody's interests.Keir Starmer UK Prime Minister

Instead of him focusing on how to ease cost of living in the USA by enacting policies that will bring down prices of goods,, he is busy fighting nonsensical trade war. He should brace up for retaliations from eu countries and china since he wants to be stupid. American farmers will pay for this. |

Donald Trump just put a gun to the head of the global economy and pulled the trigger. The last time tarriffs of this sort were implemented in 1929, the global economy entered a great depression. That was the Smooth - Hawley act. Since then economists have steered clear of tarriffs and never recommend them. Trump being the eternal idiot that he is, has destroyed the global economy as it is. Rather unsurprisingly, he has left out only Russia from these tarriffs. He has always been a Russian asset. |

Trump might have good intent to protect the American economy. But the simple effect is that Americans will experience continuous high inflation with many goods for now. And, her global partners will create a more friendly and profitable trading systems / blocks. Currently, you will observe that most Chinese international merchant terminals are trading in Naira. You don't even need a dollar card to buy things anymore. No matter the volume, and mostly free shipping. They are applying same strategy per country. The world will shift from the US market significantly, and their GDP & income will wane. |

unclejb2:The USA was not suffering anything before he started all this. And what he has started will make life harder for Americans as inflation will unavoidably spike. He is not doing this to protect anybody. He is doing it to flex muscles. He is a thoughtless, senseless illiterate man only worshipped by shallow people. |

Before placing tariffs on imported products, he should have increased his domestic production first. Just a little bird flu caused the price of eggs to skyrocket in US while it is very cheap in nearby Mexico and Canada. That is what tariffs cause. Donald Trump is a money man and he should not fall low to imagine that all Americans have the means to afford imported products with high tariffs in the absence of or scarce domestic products. First, he should improve domestic production at a lower cost. This is what China has achieved. It is the Americans that he is saving in his claim that would still pay the tariffs. Clueless move. |
