There is was a gentle man agreement in the world

US dollar becomes the world currency and the world have access to USA economy it worked well for years now Trump is saying no more

No amount of Tariffs would save USA if the world dumps dollar
So you think the strength of the Dollar is because of its use as global currency? 😅.

America subsidized nations that were buying it's printed paper dollars for their trades without an adequate security.

More so, who and how would America pay it's debts?

Your idea is an American rhetoric. You need to view things from both ends.

US in a larger scale had been milking the world's trading system with the centralization of USD. Wake up.
How does one milk the world trading system with centralisation of dollars?

Does America get percentage interest per USD used around the world? Lol.

The man has just wrecked the economy and you're praising his buffoonery?

Strong leadership won't make 1 + 1= 3.

A bad policy is a bad policy and it's worse when it's in the hand a strongheaded leader. Nigerians went through the grinder for 8 years under Buhari.

Trump is far worse!
please do not compare Trump with the lifeless Buhari or the arrogant and vapid emperor you have as your presido.

While Trump is rambunctious and I also prefer a little more tact, his game play is pretty obvious so far. He will not commit to a trade war. All he has been making so far are threats of it since January ooo, and it's all in a bid to shake things up and renegotiate. Better than stupid moves laced with lies, deception and propaganda that goes nowhere and produces no result.

He will show results that ALL will see. He did well in his first term, bar his 'public' handling/utterances during COVID....and even then it was thanks to this same Trump that a vaccine was produced in record time.

He is a smart man, not the brainless sinister maradona politicians we have in our country. He hasn't gone to France or UK for check up🤣

Actually Trump and his Economic team understand the whole game

I watched Trump's economic adviser interview about 2 weeks ago.

Whether people realize it or not
America is the King. US consuming power is 20 trillion dollars, China which is the closest's consuming power is 10 trillion dollars

So every other Nation depends on the US to buy from them.
Previous US Presidents never take cognizance of this. Then when you add US deficit, it's colossal.

What Trump's economic team are saying if you want the US to consume your goods, build your factory in the US and employ Americans.

Although this his policies will distort global economy in a crazy way. But people should brace it for global recession. Because other Nations will fight back.

But in the end America is still the King
Due to its consumption powers.
No other Nation can match them for now.

Again, you're focusing on Tinubu rather than focus on the real issue.

Tinubu inherited those tariffs. He did not initiate them. The policy was initiated by the investment minister, Agangan, during Jonathan tenure. Okonjo-Iweala who was the finance minister at the time condemned it. She was never consulted.

If tariffs are "high," it nay be down to the devaluation of the Naira which makes it more expensive to import.

I personally support import duties of 20% max on all finished products. Zero percent on raw material and capital good such as machinery.

Some of Tinubus policies such as that on textiles and steel don't seat well with me. I am for open borders. I am a strong supporter of free trade.

Please note that tariffs are one of the easiest taxes to collect. That is probably why the present governmenr has been fixated that it collects every dime possible. Tariffs and tariff evasion by previous governments could not be divorced. This present government is determined to collect every dime.

Dangote cement and imported Chinese cement, which one would be cheaper?

Before America consumers could leave America products and start buying imported, it means the prices of imported are relatively cheaper.

Just like so many Nigeria products prices are way higher, which makes people rushing for imported goods, most especially before currency devaluation, is the same logic that made consumers in America boycotting made in USA for imported goods.

Trump will wreck the US economy. You don't use threats of tariffs to bully nations. The best pundits and economists have said. 23 American Nobel laurates in economics have condemned his tariff and mass deportation policies

In addition,he actually wants those tariffs.

He believes that the federal government will earn lots of money by taxing imports.

In addition, he wants to bring back jobs to the USA through tariffs. Tariffs would encourage companies to set up plants in the country.

His tariffs and mass deportation policies are one step forward and 10 steps backward.

Stop believing your own prognosis. Economists have already spoken. Round pegs in round holes.

The US is doomed!

By the way, Buhari is better than Trump any day.

Exactly. People are crying fowl when these countries are the ones reaping the US of with tariffs to start with.

These are the tariffs they charge the US compared to the little the US is charging them back. Only a fool would think the US is the bully here. These US is only changing them half of what they charge the US and they’re still crying .

The orange column is the retaliatory US tariff. Humans have this entitlement mentality that because you’re rich, you should allow others to rip you off

The board displayed by Trump like everything about him is fake.
The fact that you posted it means you are not familiar with tariff.

Trumps Tariff is based on trade deficits with other countries and he
then choses the highest tariff figures to derive his own.
Those who export less than they import from US were heavily taxed
while those who import a lot from US were slammed with 10% flat rates.

Take the EU for example, there is a heavy tariff on agriculture import
and then lower tariff like 10% on cars and textiles.
Every other goods range from 0-5%.

That is how most countries operate.
If Trump was retaliating, he would have chosen some particular industries
of the "offenders" and then apply high tariff on them.

From your image, China imposes 67% tariff on US goods but this is a blatant lie.

If our Govt imposes huge tariff on Chinese goods the demand will drop and we will start looking for local alternatives.

Why is NNPC selling crude to Dangote in a foreign currency because they want to encourage importation and keep the price hire. If we impose huge tariff on Malta fuel local refiners will see a boost to their business
