Bros sorry to interrupt, there was never a time uber drivers deliver more than these guys u mentioned except maybe bikes.
I am not saying you shouldn't give out your car at any amount you choose.
U sef check am, does it make sense for Ehailing to be delivering less than Bike amd Keke?
The truth is other transport services have increased their delivery while ehailing has remained stunted for many years.
When ehailing started drivers delivered 50-60k weekly before low fares reduced it to 30k. At 30k no other sector delivered up to 30k weekly, except danfon coaster which had high risks. But Keke and bike wasn't up to 30k in 2018.
From 2017 to now people still want to pay 30k for a car. It's unfair to the investor. While Keke and bike has reason to 30k and more now.
Quite frankly it's easy to say thats a fair pay from a drivers perspective but until u own a car u will know it's better u park ur car at home than risk it for peanuts.
This same mushin boy that wants to collect 8k daily and 100k deposit insulted me very very well 2years ago and said why am I collecting 40k with 100k deposit, that by December he will buy another car and he will give it out for maybe 25k and not stress the driver with down payment. But u see am now, no be person dey tell person. Experience they say is always d best teacher.

I beg u in the name of God, don't give ur car out to anybody without collecting deposit.
Except it's ur brother/sister or very close friend. If u like collect 20k as weekly rental but u see that deposit, don't do without it.
Deposit for what bro? It's not HP na.

Baba, I don't understand this talk of ehailing dying. The only reason, as of today, I'm not making over a million monthly on ehailing is because as I restrict my driving hours to certain period, and other commitments that often pop up and take my way from ehailing for days or weeks.
I drove for 6 days straight—before the present commitment that has taken away from ehailing for over a week now, and I'd already made over 240k.
Perhaps they're discouraging potential drivers to forestall the saturation of the business, just maybe.
Maybe that
and maybe because their partners are on this thread too, so they dont want to cast. I understand that, but my problem is why come and be lying like this our friend and his CO travelers. To the extent of painting me and a few others as liars, agents, conspirators and enemies.

imagine, you keep asking deposit for what.

let me break it down, aside from damages, some drivers are fund of owing you so that deposit is advance payment, if I notice you're not paying consistently, I will withdraw my car and minus the days you didn't pay from the deposit and give you back the balance.

you can't use my car to make money and not pay me, also, the deposit will serve as commitment coz I know that 100k will be like 1m to the driver and he/she will want to compose so as not to loose the 100k.

I did rentals in 2021 for 10months before I bought that my first car that almost sent me to hades, the company that gave me the car collected 15k as at then and I was delivering 35k weekly, I think 15k on Thursdays and 20k on Mondays, if you miss to pay your money before 12noon on Thursday, they will shut down the car until you pay, after my 10months with them, they inspected the car and it was in exact condition they gave me and I was refunded my 15k back in full.

deposit is important bro.

Unequivocally, this has been the order of the day.

If car owners want more, they should hit the road and taste the honey pot tongue

If driver-partners want to keep more of the income, they should take a loan, get a car and deal with maintenance/other expenses themselves. tongue

Personally, I can't give my car to anyone on rental.
Even if the driver is willing to pay 100k, I won't be satisfied tongue

Like I wrote earlier, I feel this business was intended for sole proprietors.
Keep your profit and losses to yourself.

It's relative and depends on circumstances.
I don't know about u, but I know I don't spend up to 40k weekly on car repairs.
Meanwhile d guy on rental must pay his rent every week. Until ur car is problematic then I think owner drivers are better off than rental drivers.
Secondly, whether u work 7days or u work for 2 days provided car didn't breakdown, u will still pay ur complete rent at the end of the week.
The only time renter will earn more than owner driver is if the owners car is problematic and he spends alot on repairs weekly. But all things being equal it's better to drive ur car than rent a car.

When I started this hustle on rental in 2018 my rent was 35k and I paid that money every single week with ease without ever defaulting. Monday to Wednesday was for making my rent, the rest of the week belonged to me to do as I pleased.

At that time it was absurd to me that people on 25k were still defaulting and I came to the conclusion that even given 10k some drivers will still tell stories. However many drivers here were even pushing for lower rent and vilifying car owners.

Here we are, some are car owners now and the table has turned. It's the seed that was sown that's blooming now. I remember omoapena's exchange with his previous landlord here not too long ago where he painted the man like a vampire. Now he can't relate to some of his own TnCs being questioned. It's a lesson in perspective being taught early on a Friday morning.

Drivers asking for 35k in 2025, 6 years after. It is beyond laughable.

Meanwhile the wife had an early morning flight to catch today. Ride estimate said 15+ drivers were still negotiating for a higher fee. At past 5 the trip to the airport was 30+ minutes. A driver thinks that making net of 6 to 7k for a 30 something minutes trip before 6am is not enough. Na the greed wey we de talk be that.

In MOST CASES, and from experience nearly all rental partnership usually end in premium tears, with just few exceptions. I have spoken to some people that had those exceptions and they're really not doing anything different so it's a sprinkle of luck and having a KIND driver. I'll say that partners in reality never asked to earned more than driver rather they're asking for a FAIR share of the 'honey pot'. That seems to elude them. I gave my only car on the platform to a salary earner, do whatever you like with it, by month end when you collected your salary (which I know when), you will pay me! So maybe rental, HP or whatever, just have a partner that is WILLING TO PAY!
Most ehailing driver, like their danfo driver counterpart are usually not ready to pay, most don't even like paying...If you have a car and you're planning to give it out and you're the busy type, you no like wahala, DO NOT VENTURE! You'll be better off selling off! The little money you'll get will go back into repair and the rest for Strepsils/Sorepills. You go shout tire.
My best bet, buy a car, hit the road full-time or part-time! Sole proprietorship like Obed will say.. I still can't CALCULATE how 25k/35k or even 50k will give you 5m, the average cost of a naija Corolla. The gestation period is too long, doesn't make sound biz sense anymore.

It is o.

My first and probably my last rental was barely two weeks and the car was never the same again.

Seems the business is really a dead investment at this point.

I actually had good HP deals with three partners.

My main concern with HP is the uncertainty around vehicle price over the next few years. For example, my most recent car purchase was the same model of Honda Civic I sold less than two years ago—except I had to buy it at twice the price I sold it for. Granted, this one is tokunbo standard, but the point is that inflation keeps rising, and it often eats into the ROI from HP deals

If i see a good HP deal, I might consider it

I wasn’t talking about owner driver, na the ones wey get vehicle but gave it out on rental for weekly pay.

As for me i will prefer to rent a good car and pay weekly sha. Especially that end of the year rush.

Zero responsibility on my part as long as the vehicle no involve in accident, maintenance wey hooge na owner go still put head.

my issue with my partner was never about payment, I have done weekly rental of 35k and I had no issue with the company, I even tried to buy off same car from the company but the amount they put on it was way too much.

like you said, even if someone make the payment 10k, some people will still default, it's just in them to cheat.

I have stated this before, if you want to make good money in ehailing you're going to have to hit the road by yourself. Simple! Anything but that, you'd be at the losing end. So, you'd be better off parking your car and cover it up.
