The money he refused to pay when she was alive was spent in her death. Something tells me this is a scam for quick fame. Why does he keep posting pictures of when she was alive? |

NotOfThisWorld:What if the hospital is not equipped to handle such emergency? What should they have done? The hospital had released a statement that they never requested for any money from them. The woman never registered with them neither did she or her husband supply them with any information concerning her antenatal treatment. They examined her and saw that her blood volume was very low and they could not get any blood within short time. They had to refer them to the nearest general hospital without requesting for a kobo from them. What else should the hospital have done? The man should show us her antenatal card. |

God1000:Thean is responsible for his wife's death. He shouldn't blame it on anybody. When your wife is pregnant, you should be able to save money for unforeseen circumstances. Giving birth might coming with lots of challenges. You should save lots of money. If she delivers the normal way and no complications, you use the money to take care of her and the children. But if there's complications, use the money for it. Don't expect that hospitals will give you free treatment in Nigeria. Especially private hospitals. They're not charity organisations. Couples should learn . |

HOSPITALS NO DEY THERE TO PLAY; THEY HAVE SALARIES TO PAY, AND BUSINESS TO RUN. PACK EMOTIONAL FOR ONE SIDE, NO ONE CARES. |

Kobojunkie:You are being honestly blunt! Saying things as they are! I wonder why the hospital should be blamed. The fact the hospital referred them to another hospital shows that the hospital staff care (imagine what would have happened if they had kept the woman and she eventually dies in their hospital. This man would have called them out, and may also not pay the requested 500k deposit, which he claimed he could have raised). Even the man admitted that perhaps the hospital doesn't have the facilities to treat his pregnant wife, which is possibly the reason they demanded that amount to deterr him and for then to accept the referral to a government hospital which will be cheaper and have more professionals |

azpekuliar:This no fallacy. The actions of men have a way of affecting others in need. If I run medical business in Nigeria, with the experience I had, a reasonable (not outrageous) amount must paid as deposit before full care is given, provided my facility can handle such case. I am into medical supplies presently and I know the gap how prices of equipment have soared between 2022 and now. |

Judolisco:For what!!! What did the hospital fo wrong? If they cannot manage the woman's situation, they should keep her and watch her pass away? The hospital did the right thing by referring the woman to a government hospital with better facilities, which is also affordable |

Cmanforall:oga chill, even the hospital are denying asking 500k from him, so its his word against theirs... If truly they requested for him to make an initial deposit of 500k before treatment then it's wrong and d hospital should be shut.... Na my opinion bdat |

I just pity the late girl and her immediate family they lost a daughter and for the many I have no pity for him why getting a woman pregnant if you don’t have the money to care for them it’s easy to be a father but takes a lot to be a dad .for you all blaming the hospital get a life someone built a hospital to make profit not to render free service .. poor man must blame everything on the govt na tinubu send you to go fuvk |
| Re: We Spent Almost N500,000 At Mortuary": Man Whose Wife Died During Labour by kinguwem: 9:40pm On Apr 06, 2025 |
ChybuzzDD:You're correct. Hospitals receive & attend to cases based on their categorization, available facilities & personnel. The major problem here was poor antenatal care, lack of labour readiness & emergency preparedness. If it was done, during the onset of labour, they would've gone to a better facility that would've managed her condition instead of starting at a poorly equipped delivery home with no facilities for referral or links with any referral facility. There should be a proper inquiry & the delivery home should be investigated & its modus operandus cross examined. The greater blame is on government. Uneven distribution of health centres is to be blamed for this calamity. There's need to have a functional ambulance system & a well coordinated emergency response system that can offer emergency medical & surgical services without out of pocket expenditures. May the soul of the lady rest in peace. |
| Re: We Spent Almost N500,000 At Mortuary": Man Whose Wife Died During Labour by maik: 9:41pm On Apr 06, 2025 |
I think people need to confirm the antenatal process before any judgment . The antenatal process flow typically begins with a booking appointment, followed by regular check-ups, screening tests, and discussions about labor and birth, with the goal of ensuring the well-being of both mother and baby. Antenatal is necessary to monitor the progress of the pregnancy and identify any potential issues. Some pregnant women don't really bother to register for antenatal, this can be risky sometimes. Hospitals may reject pregnant women during emergency if they don't have their medical records. I don't think any hospital that offers regular antenatal appointment and keep records of any pregnant woman can reject their patient in case of emergency. What happened to this woman was so painful. May her soul rest in peace. |

Kobojunkie:That’s not realistic. Can you really say that to a woman? It might seem okay to tell a man not to have children, but who will fulfill the strong desire many women have to become mothers? Men, of course. And let’s be honest, men are naturally drawn to women, with a strong libido and deep desire. So how can reproduction not happen? Especially when women are aware that their biological clock is ticking. Bros, remember God said, “Be fruitful and multiply.” That wasn’t just a command, it was a divine statement of purpose. If you stand in the way of that, you're working against God's plan. Have a good night rest. |

Blackdisciple:Lol, you never work for Nigerian hospitals. The ones you see that don't go home, that's the one the hospital has security all over the place. They can't run or hide. And even then many do a runner. At some point if you dey run private hospital, you have to choose between being merciful or having a working hospital. |

nairalanda1:Exactly, Most Nigerians abandon owed medical bills The cost of running a private health facility is very high A lot of people dont know Medical Equipment and Materials are expensive Private hospitals pay income taxes of staff and other taxes They also pay registration fees every year in many cases to different medical unions and associations and regulation bodies yearly Health professionals working pay income taxes and licence fees yearly They buy diesel or fuel as most machiness use power They service their generators They run their toilets and plumbing They buy toilet roll, They buy medical consumables They have to pay health practitioners and staff who are now scarce due to travelling out competitive wages They have to keep the environment sterilized and hygienic They use stationeries and do printing and some use different software which cost money all paid for.at market rates They pay NEPA bills too They pay people to repair their machines ( If You know how Medical repairers charge) The business has so many expenses Government generates majir revenue from income tax, bank charges, property charges, value added tax, company tax, sale of natural resources , business taxes So the government from this revenue can afford to partially subsidize health schemes and provide healthcare below cost price in many cases. But crowds and scarce manpower amd ocassional efficiency issues can be a challenge Also in Lagos State General Hospitals, as at 4 years ago, women who delivered under emergency are kept in a debt room until the bill was paid by a good samarifan or paid shaaa Only during covid lockdown period was delivery free in Lagos state General.hospifals and covered by the government Go.and find out how much General Hopitals spend on diesel alone Please Nigerians, Having children is not an achievement Survive firsf. Things are crazy ezpensive This is capitalism system at work and modern needs have gone beyond jusf needing food from a farm. Farming self uses fertilizers and pesticides and labour which would all be paid for in cash . Besides Nigerians are known for not paying owed medical bills after treatment not only in Nigeria, but in the UK and USA |

Hussein035:The person you replied to has issues she's living in denial of. She's not taking any responsibility for her own life yet she's quick to criticize others for not being responsible for theirs She's jobless in the US and has refused to engage in any meaningful activity to pay her own bills. When you call her out for indolence and irresponsibility, the next thing, is to reply that she's happily unemployed and enjoying it . It's this same refuse -to - work individual with a lot of issues of her own surviving on crumbs from social welfare in the US that's now taking it upon her self to villify another man, and even the wife lying in the morgue for irresponsibility . Just imagine the irony!. Well , I won't be surprised if one of these days Donald Trump turns his attention on individuals like her who don't want to work and contribute their own through paying taxes so others can benefit. Live is ups and down . The unexpected can happen which can render one's preparedness completeness useless. Money is not everything . We regularly see how sometimes it disappoints those who rely totally on it like a god. Humanity is the only reliable thing that will never fail us in trying times and not the millions or even billions we have in the bank. The only thing the man did wrong was to take the wife to the unaffordable private health facility where they were refused treatment. But you cannot really blame him. It was an emergency situation. Mother and child were dying and the nearest place he could think of was the private clinic. But unfortunately, the hospital refused attending to them obviously because of past experience from others who absconded. If he had the presence of mind to rush the wife to a public health facility which he could afford, and the wife died on the way while attempting that, the same heartless humans some of who aren't even married nor have any experience given birth will still be the ones to blame the him for not going first to a private clinic that's closer . Who knows? They might have gotten some help that would have save mother and child. Yes. That's what they would been saying . So many heartless and mentally unbalanced individual crawling this forum. |

Judolisco:It is wrong. If that was the situation, it means the hospital has the capacity of hablndling her case, but due to the financial constraints, they opted not to render emergency services. The unfortunate thing is that the hospital can win the case in the court of law, unless the man has concrete evidence against them |
