I think the tarriffs were meant to force oil prices down. Genius move by Trump. He's been hammering on oil prices for a while.

It's artificial tho and won't last. OPEC would just cut production and the price would spike.

And that's exactly where the division comes in. OPEC doesn't have a strong alliance like that to come to agreement to cut production. Some countries, like Nigeria rely heavily on oil that cutting production will only hamper their finances. Nigeria currently has a budget deficit of about 12 trillion or so, you think a country like Nigeria will agree to cut prices? I seriously don't think so
