Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has announced promising prospects for oil exploration and exploitation in the state, following the certification of its commercial viability.

The governor made this known in Birnin Kebbi during a reception held in honor of Abubakar Shettima, a retired Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, who was recently appointed as the Managing Director of the Rima River Basin Development Authority.

Governor Idris emphasized that Kebbi State is rich in mineral resources, including petroleum, and assured that his administration is committed to harnessing these natural endowments for economic growth.

Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to agricultural development, he pledged the continued provision of free fertilizer, farming inputs, implements, and improved seeds to farmers to boost productivity.

Speaking on the appointment of Abubakar Mallam Shettima, Governor Idris expressed confidence in his ability to deliver, citing his vast experience as a retired paramilitary officer and a respected politician.

In response, Abubakar Mallam Shettima expressed gratitude to the governor for his support in securing the appointment, pledging his loyalty and commitment to the administration.
The new Managing Director previously contested for the governorship of Kebbi State in 2007 and 2011.
