In this AVITS era, traveling together as a family or group (although no more group appointment for Nigerians) is a very delicate application if you do not want to give away approximately 900k (visa fee for three pple) to the US embassy without attending interview.

YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS .

ONE: When filling your application you will have to list your family members who are traveling with you and avits will calculate your MRVs together eg 900k for three persons and that is what you are expected to take to the bank to pay. Do not allow the bank to tell you to pay the money individually, you have to pay it together and collect 1-payment receipt. otherwise you will have insufficient payment on avits.

TWO. Do the whole application individually. That means that each person will pay his/her visa fee solely and have different mrv payment receipts. NOTE : You can do your own on your profile while your husband and kids do theirs in the husband's profile. OR : Do everything in your profile but you have to start from your own as the principal applicant and start those of others after you must have secure a date. Ciao.

I tried generating deposit slip online using my phone, something popped after it and while trying to check the details that popped up, the thing went off so I clicked back on the portal which I saw some numbers on the payment reference no. Have gone to the bank to pay with those numbers but they told me those numbers are not Amentum reference number. What do I do now?

If the bank has collected the payment then wait till tomorrow and log back to your profile by clicking pending appointment which will take you to a calendar to pick your date.
If you meant that the bank send you back then go and login to your AVITS, click on pending appointment and it will take you to where you stopped the last time and you will be able to generate another payment advise (teller).
OR : Click on pending appointment and cancel it and start all over again. Ciao.

Thank you very much. The bank sent me back. I've clicked on generate to see if I can generate a new one but isn't working. I guess I have to do the latter option u suggested.

I logged in and saw cancel appointment request and pending appointment request. I clicked on cancel appointment request. It has canceled but I'm having issues choosing a post after selecting LGS as state

I’d advise you use a PC for a better user experience. On the other hand, you might have issue with “Duplicate user found” with the appointment request you cancelled. If you do, just add your middle name to your first name and leave the middle name input field blank. You should be able to proceed.

I'm not sure why you mentioned that your age. At 29 you're still young.

You have a good profile, so except you're aiming for certain schools, I don't see anything that should be holding you back from applying as soon as you can. The situation with future funding for higher education in the US is very uncertain, so I would advice to also have options outside.

On Tuesday, during the search and posting of available dates that was when someone noticed a lot of dates became available for Abuja and people quickly booked appointment.
Hopefully, dates for Lagos open up soon too.

Before you JOIN, note that, you're going to actively search for dates too based on the time given. If you don't, you will be removed.

please ehn, say for example you chose a day in 2026 for interview because there were no available dates then but you are lucky to see a closer date, can you change? or its better not to select a date yet because a selected date can't be changed?

I paid my visa fees today and decided not to choose any date... I checked later in the afternoon and I was able to find May 23, for Abuja... If you choose 2026, you can still reschedule too

Chose premium delivery from the beginning if you can afford it (though you can change delivery options B4 your interview).
If you chose free delivery now and later chose premium delivery after the issuance of your visa it can take 2 weeks to get the delivery of your passport except it you paid for express delivery.
Although the stated issues does not happen all the time but most time OIS, DHL and the US embassy misunderstand delivery messages amongst themselves especially changing from free to premium. Ciao.

is it advisable to apply for a community college or a university for a certificate program rather than a master's program reason being a certificate program aligns more with the technical aspects of my current occupation,will it reduce the chance of getting a visa approval.

I got admission to study for my phd. It is funded tuition and part of cost of living is covered. I still have a deficit for my cost of living and other fees (10k). I also want to apply for the visa with my husband (F2). I have to add 8k cost of living for my husband. That brings the total deficit to 18k. I have some personal funds and he has some but the money is not in our accounts. It will be sent in. My question is does it make sense for the money to enter my account and his own in huge chunks. For me 13 million. and for him 17million. Also, how long does the money need to stay in my account before I request for my i20. This is the statement I want to show my school.

You are experiencing duplicate user / double profile . The solution is to cancel all pending appointments visible in your profile and start afresh. OR abandon your present profile and open another one . Ciao.
