I have gotten criticized and insulted several times on this forum because of sports betting, I always wonder why gamblers don't like the truth about betting. You will see any kind of addicts wanting to quit and cursing their addictions, but you will never see gamblers doing same thing. The only time you will see betting addicts lamenting is when their game cut or they don't have money to play. Majority of sports betting addicts have deceived themselves thinking that they r not gamblers but investors, always thinking about coming up with a strategy to hit alabi, while in reality there is no any kind of strategy to win a bet. Its just luck and the 80% of the luck is on the bookies side. When I wasn't betting, what I earn from my work is not something much but it sustain me. I live a normal life of an ordinary poor Nigerian man, but when I start betting 3years ago, I have become very poor with nothing to show, to even eat na wahala for me. Since then I can't even get myself a good phone. For 3years I couldn't get 70k to buy a phone and I have been working gambling/sports betting is truly a curse.I opened this thread because something happened today, one guy from gambling thread has found out the bitter truth about gambling and he quit. majority of the guys from that thread hated me just because I had been telling that guy to quit betting. They thought I was trolling or hated the guy but in my mind I know I am his only true fan for telling him to shun away from betting. If you have been earning a decent amount of money you have no business with the bookmakers, saving not even investing is more secure and reliable than betting. I hate to see rich people playing bet. Poor man can do it to have some hope about the future. Samueltemi337 Realitykings1 Reggzy Everyday247 Antwan99 Peterzoom20 WhiteIverson Akwesenana Tojahh Deltateam Jedtam Pjtech Sam2310 And the rest. I hope and pray that you guys will oneday discover the right path and quit betting like I and oyewale0001 have quit. Eseka12 do yourself a favour and copy oyewale, you can't be hustling in India and kept dashing alabi your hard earned rupees. Mary911 keep the good work. God will surely reward you, I see what you been doing to liberate the young generation chained with gambling addiction. |

Nice one. I am always glad to see people quit gambling. To kill the urge totally, you have to find something else to love. Choose to seek God and love Him. The urge of betting will die forever. You can read some of my write up here. https://www.nairaland.com/7331850/demon-betting-operations |

Everywhere you look now from Pitch-side advertising boards, Jersey, programs are sponsored by these betting companies. I see our celebrities like Sabinus, Okocha, Martins etc promoting this evil. Its more likely they don't bet but they're promoting it to you. Betting has ruined sports, some can't watch it without betting. Even the players themselves are not spared, there were cases against Sturridge in the past and recently Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali who just came back from a ban. So you see upon their higher wages they're still addicted to betting. Also the English FA are investigating West Ham's Midfielder Lucas Paqueta, you know why? Many people from Paqueta Island (where Lucas grew up) were consistently placing bets on Lucas (maybe to get a yellow card) and were winning these bets. You see the betting companies don't want you to win, my guess is they reported these betting patterns on Lucas to the English FA. |

This betting thing is a pandemic over there in the UK, men are commiting suicide. From 2026/2027 season The Premier League will stop teams using betting companies sponsors on the front of their shirts. This doesn't stop betting/betting companies at all though but maybe a step in the right direction. I was shocked to find out that many live games online that are not the popular ones(those obscure leagues and games) are heavily manipulated from a video on YouTube I think it was 1xbet. Sports are meant to be played and enjoyed not making you a slave to it through betting. Betting companies are bankrolling the bodies governing various sports today, so these companies are the ones calling the shots. These betting companies are also used to launder money from illegal activities. If you're addicted seek help, delete/block your account(s) with them, they didn't start their company to make you rich. If you get a job and you start saving you'll be richer than whatever betting will promise you. Avoid friends that bet, avoid celebrities/influencers/accounts that promote any form of betting. |

In a post exploring the rise of football betting culture, a user explained why platforms like 1win uganda are so addictive. They emphasized how 1win enables smooth betting during live games, turning a passive match into an interactive challenge. The growing appeal of 1win lies in its ability to merge real-time excitement with responsive digital tools. |

Just to add some fried chicken to your stew. The destruction of football by betting did not start today. Since the time of Buffon, just Google - calciopoli. Of recent we have Tonali whose investigation followed him from Italy to Newcastle, Paqueta whom City refused to buy because yellow cards during a set time range in live EPL matches were being offered as a birthday betting gift for cashing out via friends and family. Let's not forget Samson Siasia and the one currently brewing between Daniel Amokachi and Lobi Stars in NPFL. We also have Etoo, the Cameroon Federation President, who signed a sponsorship contract for the local league with 1XBET and later signed a personal ambassadorial deal with the same 1XBET company. As if conflicts of interest are not enough. A certain 1st division match was stopped in the 80th minute by the President of the home side, who was on the losing side that day but clearly did not want the match to get to the 90th minute due to betting rules. That particular match was abandoned and was never rescheduled which means the match is a default and the money for the bet will be refunded in full. Etoo has an interest in this club. For 2 years before that day, that team had never lost or drawn a match at home. For over 2 years, the President of that club was going to the radio on the eve of all home matches informing supporters and residents to bet on the team and cash out and they did indeed cashout because even some referees were in their pocket. There were matches whereby the linesman gave 2 penalties, I mean he waved his flag, called the referee and said something to the referee twice in the same match and 2 penalties were given. That same match report had a record number of offsides given against the opposing team. That 80th minute stoppage of the match by the club president triggered an investigation by CAF, FIFA and TAS on Samuel Etoo and he recently won the1st case by a technicality on appeal at CAF but the case is still in TAS and FIFA. Investigation shows that while there has always been a high volume of betting on the home games of that team for the last 3 years, the bulk of the betting and cashing out was happening in Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and Philippines and not even in Cameroon. This Asian cartel was cashing out a cool 1-5 million dollars per game betting on single matches spread over thousands of bets on different platforms. That same team gained consecutive promotions from lower leagues to the 1st division with competition rules changed twice within the same season just to favor the club to reach the 1st division. This club suddenly resurrected after Etoo became the Federation President. That club was champion last year. It's just the big 5 European leagues and the European competitions that seem protected until one scandal go surface. Football don spoil Betting. Bigwings22: |
