Honestly, with the amount of hate I keep seeing from our IPOBidient brothers and sisters, I really don’t blame Afenifere for their stance. I’ve said this so many times on Igbo forums and at different meetings—you can’t expect love when all you dish out is hate. Simple.

I keep asking: what exactly did the Yorubas do to us that’s so unforgivable? Like, seriously?

These same Yoruba people have given us real political opportunities, Commissioner posts, SSAs, Local Government Chairmanships, House of Reps seats, etc. But somehow, we just ignore all that and focus on cooked-up reasons to be angry and resentful.

Let’s not forget, these are the same Yorubas who, after the civil war, didn’t seize a single Igbo property. Instead, they welcomed us back, gave us room to thrive, even employed us in their state civil service. Can I, as an Anambra man, even dream of getting a government job in Enugu? And that used to be my state of origin before we separated. Let’s not even talk about trying that in Imo or Abia—forget it.

It’s time we check ourselves. We can’t keep demanding respect and equity while constantly throwing stones at the same people who have shown us more grace than even some of our own.

You are a very mischievous and malicious person and God will punish you badly. Who made that post from Afenifere was it from a position of love or of hate? A country that is multi ethnic you are advocating that the legislature should use ob Yoruba, is that really the priority in the country now?
And you are here trying to use mischief to incite hatred. This post of yours can clearly send you to prison, if it was military regime the secret police would have caught your profile and secretly taken you out.
You guys it is like you have nothing tangible to do and you are so frustrated at life that you see tribalism as an east means to help you get to the end of the cash till. But you see one thing these politicians will still use you and you will be in your thatched house in Ikorodu with borrowed data and still be posting hate posts, while your politicians are enjoying the country.

Although the headline has been maximized for interest, it does a disservice to their other positions about insecurity in the region.

That they discussed these other issues does not excuse the irresponsibility of the group which is rightly embedded in the headline.

To them, ethnic entitlements, exclusionary politics, having a tribal conclave or a village square is better than collective progress.

The focus should be on “who can best serve my interest?” Whose experience, intellect, and vision can move the state forward? And that person can be from other communities, they may not speak my ethnic language or even be affiliated with it. It is toxic politics to try to close the doors on who can do the most good. And that person can be Hausa, they can be Igbo, they can be Nigerians born and raised in the diaspora.

In SE our politicians will prefer blowing horrible big grammar they don’t even know how to speak rather than speak Igbo language.

Useless sets of people.

They're crazy it's not gonna change anything...their real problems are hypocrisy and low intellectual commitment

Ninety-nine percent of the legislators don't even speak/understand pure Yoruba, they speak in slang and a mish-mash of English and pidgin-English

I disagree with this. English is the country's official language.

Yoruba language should be taught in South West schools, but legislative proceedings and other official government procedures should be done in English Language.

They are born with it. Tribalism is laced into their DNA.

That was how one of their useless tribalistic old men started posting everything in Yoruba language on our Estate platform, after getting tired of saying rubbish about igbos.
He still begs me money. My shi shi will never enter his useless hands again. When it is time to solicit for contributions, the useless vegetable would post it in the English language, because he knows that his ronu Brethren can't give any meaningful thing

I ghosted the platform because, some of them are not pleased with it but their inherited cowardice wouldn't let the wimps caution him
You did well

Many Igbos in SW understand Yoruba so not a big deal.

Making policies because of anti-Igbo sentiments has never helped Nigeria

Imagine a state matter being conducted in local language.

The yorubas has taken their tribal inclination too far.

It is well known fact that the Yoruba language is widely spoken and used daily social and business interactions among the people in all south west states.

Teaching Yoruba in schools is enough to preserve the Yoruba language and also sensitizing parents to always speak their native dialect at home.

Every state in the country should conduct all her affairs using the lingua franca of the country, which is the English language.

It makes no sense to conduct legislative matters in Yoruba as it will neither add value to it nor stop their corrupt tendencies.

Oga Nigeria is a multi ethnic state. If you say you are promoting Yoruba in schools then it makes sense, but in the legislature that is wrong and sends a dangerous signal. The legislature is not where you promote ethnic jingoism, there are better ways to promote yoruba culture, this one is just foolish ethnocentric games that is what they are advocating and it will not augur well for you guys.
