OP you child go to Lagos, don't mind naysayers. It's the land of most opportunities as long as you're teachable. Put your body and soul into learning and start earning afterwards. I know am Igbo guy, Ugo, that came from the east. Baba learn sales of Keke spare parts, he's damn rich now, build wealth from it, taught his brothers his trade and they're comfortable too, just that he won't teach Yorubas around his line of trade. But that's okay, at least, he's not calling us names.

So, in a nutshell, come to Lagos, don't be lazy, don't hate us Yoruba or call us names, the land shall favor all of us.
What can I learn in Lagos?
Re: I Want To Relocate To Lagos by amutah08: 3:49pm On Apr 10, 2025
Yorubas complaining of igbos coming to Lagos. Lagos is part of Nigeria, and every igbo have right to be there.

You also have right to go to East.

Igbo businesses are concentrated in Lagos because past governments didn't dredge onitsha seaport, calabar seaport and onne seaport.

Northerners are suffering economic effect of massive movement of igbos from North.

It's important to enjoy massive business presence that have increased circulation of money in Lagos.

Anti-igbo sentiments in Lagos won't work so long as igbos are Nigerians. Even yoruba politicians in Lagos, out, ondo, etc all want Igbo businesses because of prosperity that come with it.

Only solution is igbos having their country, and even then you can't send them parking because they will become foreign nationals and you will be treated in kind on theiir country soil.

Rather than attacking igbos build on your strength. Yorubas have done well in banking and IT.

Work on improving on that. When it comes to commerce igbos dominate over 70%.

Leverage on your strength.

It's too late to fight Igbos in Lagos.

Thanks sir. I have already started making plans. Please what high paying skill can I learn in two years sir?

I'm more than ready sir

It is good to see young sensible men posting things that pertain to the future. Bro...you are in luck since you have a place to stay for the mean time.

You will definitely make it. 100k is so doable in Lagos. It will even be great if you can ride Keke or Okada. Anything driving will fetch you money faster than anything else. Teaching primarily school is another thing that is lucrative.

Please refrain from Yahoo as there are lots of them over there. Just focus on your target and be good. God bless

Good morning people. I noticed that majority of users on this site live in Lagos.

Most of my childhood friends have traveled to Lagos.

That aside, I want to relocate to Lagos. I have an uncle that used to stay in orile (2018).

I can camp in his house for the main time.

If I come to Lagos, can I get a job that can pay me like 100k and above every month. I have my waec and neco. I just turned 25.

I feel if I change environment, things will begin to go well for me.. and I heard there are lots of jobs in Lagos.

Here in the east, no work or company. Only Keke bus business that's thriving

Please can I make it in Lagos? I need suggestions. This is a life changing decision please

My brother, let me tell you something straight - about moving to Lagos to make it, because I've been exactly where you are right now, full of that same fire and belief that Lagos equals success, but let me give you the raw truth from my own 5-year war with that city. I landed in Ojodu Berger in 2015 with big dreams but left in 2020 with nothing but regret after employers frustrated me with unpaid salaries, transport broke me with endless traffic and high costs, and even family disappointed me when that uncle who promised help charged me 80k for a closet under his staircase. The day I ran away to Delta State was when my life finally changed - my Igbo friend he’s name is mark moved to Asaba's Ogbogonogo Market to learn how to sell foodstuffs and as we speak has 3 boys he brought from the village to teach them the trade like he learnt it with a second shop while I found peace, cheaper living, and real opportunities that eventually brought me to America today. So before you go, ask yourself hard questions: do you have a solid plan beyond just "hustling", a real place to stay knowing landlords demand 2 years rent upfront, let me don’t scare you, your uncle might show you premium shege( I might be wrong but plan for the eventuality, cause anything can happen), can you handle extreme mental, financial and spiritual pressure? If not, explore options in the East first - learn a trade in Aba's markets like my friend mark did( that is if you have someone there to accommodate till you finish learning the trade, pick up skills in Onitsha/Asaba, or network in Port Harcourt's oil sector because Lagos is a brutal gamble where only 1 in 10 make it without turning to yahoo, thuggery or becoming some big man's errand boy. Think well my brother, Lagos doesn't give second chances and I'm telling you this not to scare you but because I don't want you learning the hard way like I did - the city works for some but consumes most, so be wise and know that sometimes success is closer to home than you think.

Note: This isn’t to hate on Lagos o! The city works for some people… but not for most. Be wise!
How did you travel sir? I also want to travel abroad sir. Please help me sir

Please don't come. Lagos is overcrowded.
young man if you want to come to Lagos do that quietly without dragging in your whole ethnicity into it, what justification are you seeking for here? a lot of us came from same east and are going about our businesses with out fear or favoritism from the indigenous people of the land with all their policies aimed at bringing down our people’ if you come to Lagos find something legit that can bless your life..As an Igbo man we are determined to survive in every part of the world not only Lagos..stop looking for sympathy up and down, come to Lagos, work hard, make money buy their hoses so that they will run to the nearest village..they don’t like you bro

There are lots of opportunities in Lagos and the challenges are daunting too.

They don't pick money on the street in Lagos, what skills do you have?

If the only thing you have to make money is your muscles, Lagos will frustrate your life.

Are there items or products you can bring from the East and sell here? Even if na ogbono.

Is your food, clothing and shelter guaranteed before you find your footing?

Lagos is Africa's New York. People from several countries are desperately looking for money here.

May you not fall into the hands of scammers and ritualists.

Once it turns positive, before month end I'll be in Lagos. Thank goodness he stays in a spacious 3 bedroom flat in orile.

Once I land, I'll desperately look for work. I'm 99 percent sure I'll make it in Lagos.

100 to 200k, with WAEC and NECO Certificate? Lol, even people with HND and Bsc aren't finding easy to get it. Bro, it's neither easy here too. Your WAEC and NECO may not get such. I think you should acquire skills to your certificate. It is very hard to see a firm in Nigeria that will pay a WAEC or NECO holder 100k, let alone 200k.
What of hotel work sir? I have started submitting my CV to hotels here in the east. But I just want to relocate to Lagos. I can do hotel work like housekeeping, porter sir

Let me be honest with you, they won't pay you up to 100k let alone 200k except you are applying for higher roles like a manager which requires higher qualification. I would advise that you add skills to it like driving, carpentary(there is real money in it but it is not for the weak) phone engineering, welding etc.

A piece of advise, once you land, trash that your certificate, roll up your sleeves and plead with your uncle to take you to any main market so he can introduce you to a few people. Be ready to hustle like an illiterate undergraduate else na depression go kpai u for ur bros house.
this was the mentality that saved me.as I graduate I had to go low in hustle. What is honorable about a certificate that cannot give u good life.God bless u for giving him the raw truth.

Lol. The way you keep laying emphasis on Orile as if it's a specific place in Lagos.
For your information, we have Orile Agege, Orile Iganmu, Orile Oshodi, Orile Alagbado.
