"Japa; Why I Won’t Leave Nigeria" Dr Anumiri Chidozie Pascal by Racoon(op): 3:49pm On Apr 10, 2025
Dr Anumiri Chidozie Pascal, founder of Pandacare, a hailing service for medicine delivery, has vowed not to join his colleagues leaving Nigeria for greener pasture despite the ailing healthcare system back home.

Speaking during a programme on Max FM, Abuja, on Thursday, the medical practitioner said statistics show that over 50 doctors leave Nigeria every week. This, he said, had caused a lot of challenges to the healthcare system as hospitals are so short staffed.

He said: “I’ve seen hospitals where they now make use of nurses to sit in for doctors, that’s how bad. In hospitals, patients have to wait so long before they can see a doctor, because the patient load is now overwhelming, and patients also have to seek multiple healthcare facilities before they get quality care. That is how bad it is.

“Honestly, the healthcare system needs help. The Nigerian healthcare system is crying for help, and that is how the situation the healthcare system has gone up to, especially the emergency services.

“It is very poor. When you’re talking about emergency services in Nigeria, it’s no longer an emergency, because when it takes more than 30 minutes to get the help you need, it’s no longer an emergency.”

Sharing a personal experience of losing a loved one, the doctor said if every one in position to help leaves Nigeria, how would the much needed help come.

He said his desire to help build a Nigeria where healthcare challenges are less prompted him to establish Pandacare, a telemedicine application. “Pandacare is a digital healthcare platform that provides emergency ambulance services for clients at any point and anywhere.

“When you think about pandacare, you think about the Bolt for healthcare. Just as easy as you could book a ride, you could gain access to healthcare services. That is what pandacare is all about. We want to make it easy for you to gain access to healthcare services just by clicking a button on your phone,” he said.

On affordability, he said: “Pandacare services are affordable. We are making room for subscription plans for our clients. By virtue of subscribing to our services, at any point in time you need the service, you could gain it.

He said doctors on and Pandacare will “go through orientation training to make sure these ones are fit to provide the services when due.”

“We have a vetting team to go through their certificates, their recent license. Not just anyone. Recent valid license, not just for doctors only.”

How much does the average doctor today earn in Nigeria? If you go to most private hospitals and see what they pay their doctors and nurses, you'll shed tears.

This is why they escape to saner climes once the opportunity present itself.

You can't give your all in an environment where you're not valued.

You are building Nigeria health system just the same way Dangote is building Nigeria with his cement.

Simply say you are staying because of Pandacare

It's a thing of choice. Your environment influences your success to a great extent. You can succeed here doesn't mean others who sees better prospects outside shouldn't leave for a better life.

His life, his choice. When people use the word help, I find it interesting for multiple reasons. In this case, if those who can help chooses not to leave, will their providing help meet their needs?
Rather than gaslight those who are leaving, call on the government to create an enabling environment where they can strive and succeed.

Frustration never touch am.
If you are in a position of knowing what to do and not having the proper equipment and avenue or you are in a position to offer medical help but the people in question simply cannot afford it, then you would understand what Nigeria is all about.

Ordinarily Nigeria is a fertile ground for making money and prospering.

But i tell you this solemnly.

The day u start making money in the country legitimately, that's when you would know that the major challenge you would face is government.

Have u ran a business before and see how government bring all forms of demand notices before for you to pay.

Have your shop been burgled before and police can not help you.

Has a rich man intimidated you before and you have no where to run.

Have u carried out contracts for government and you are not paid.

Lets not talk about kidnapping

Have you been expecting goods and it delays because of bad roads.

Have u had plans to import something from abroad and off a sudden the dollars goes up.

I can go on and on.

To be patriotic here is not for the masses to boast with, It is the politicians in power than should start practicing patriotism.

So my Man i wish you well. I am doing well in this country but if i have the chance I will LEAVE

Not necessarily... business minded doctors, that are good in their practices, are making tons of money in Nigeria.
Re: "Japa; Why I Won’t Leave Nigeria" Dr Anumiri Chidozie Pascal by Baxilexi(m): 5:45pm On Apr 10, 2025
One bothersome thing with the average Nigerian success story is the grey area.

You woke up one day, perhaps on the sunny side, created an app, bought ambulances, hired drivers, all out of thin air. This rhetoric leaves a lot to the imagination.
How about you give the details so other doctors can follow suit.

Many Nigerians sincerely seek for legitimate advice on how to turn their fortunes around.

Did you get a loan? If you did, from what bank? At what rate? Did you win a lottery?
How much did it cost you to build the app?
How much did the licenses cost?
Do you have insurance or indemnity? How much did it cost?

Nigeria has made me very skeptical when it comes to entrepreneurships. More often than not when you peel off the veneer there’s fraudulent money in the mix.
If someone has deeper knowledge about his franchise please share with the public.

May you succeed because investing in anything healthcare in Nigeria especially as a doctor already looks like failure on arrival.
