Does it mean states like Sokoto is not among these.... do we guys notice some states are above the law and does not conform to the ruling of the country? If you'all notice that Sokoto state is like governed by itself and the president's power does not get there. I am currently there as we speak and i can testify that its out of reach to the laws of Naija. [quote author=LegendHero post=134945560]Note: This is not State IGR. And some states want to create new states ? Imagine Kaduna with all that farm land generating only 300 million naira. 1. Lagos: N10.49bn 2. Ebonyi: N6.13bn 3. Kwara: N3.35bn 4. Oyo: N3.11bn 5. Jigawa: N2.89bn 6. Edo: N2.59bn 7. Gombe: N2.09bn 8. Ondo: N1.39bn 9. Ogun: N1.31bn 10. Cross River: N701.34m 11. Taraba: N441m 12. Kaduna: N382.22m (With all the farmland availabe for cultivation and animal husbandry) 13. Akwa Ibom: N343.18m (No Farmalands ?) 14. Abia: N341.74m (No farmlands ?) 15. Ekiti: N303.65m (No Farmland?) 16. Kogi: N289.73m (Kogi has limestone, and a lot of mineral resources and farmland) 17. Bauchi: N250.37m (Bauchi has no farmlands ?) 18. Imo: N215.34m (No farm lands ?) 19. Borno: N213.12m (This ones artificially created insecurity as a source of revenue for the state, IGR so low 1 person can write a check) 20. Osun: N204.42m (Are there no farm lands ?) |

TUANKU:Did you asked yourself how the IGR were generated? Taxing poor market women up and down is better right? Do you know in Lagos any small kiosk you open, you must pay, even those poor women hawking Agboh, pay for council levy. In Delta, we don't do that, we allow poor women to breath, we don't suffocate the poor to enrich the wealthy. |

LegendHero:Haha So LG arm is working well because of a phantom revenue collection? This is why I've always told you to stop putting mouth in Nigeria affairs cause you're not on ground and therefore ignorant of basic things. Your motivation most times is narrow tribal baiting LGs by enabling laws do not have revenue generation capacity. Most of the taxes and permits that should accrue to them are collected by the state revenue boards. In some states like Lagos, some revenue that should be collected by state such as tenement rates are collected by the LCDAs on behalf of the state. So how did The cable measure revenue collection by LGs when the LGs do not even have revenue boards? It's obvious if you ask them to give you a breakdown, they'll simply pull figures given to them by the states which are subjective figures Anyone who knows how states and LGs are intertwined will know this list is trash. How can only 20 states have LG igr if LG igrs statutorily exist? |

States (local governments) need to be more innovative in thier revenue generation drive. Increasing the tax burden on businesses at this time will be counterproductive. To this end, there needs to be purposeful investments in agriculture, provision of incentives for citizens to pay thier taxes as at when due and proper utilisation of revenue generated. Also, infrastructural projects must have definite purposes and goals, not doing projects for projects sake. The FG also needs to improve security, review the resource derivation policy to make sure local governments get more out of the resources gotten from thier lands. |

Very deceitful data. Very dubious, complete lie, complete fallacy. So to the writer Lagos generated 10b. Now it is the business of states and no longer local governments standing on the own? Get to Lagos and check out the revenue of Lagos Island alone, not to talk of Apapa, Ojo and Alimosho. These local governments alone generate revenues in hundreds of billions. Nonsense writer. |
