Bro… Skales was not a good or decent rapper. It’s funny you mentioned Jeremiah ft. Skales because I still listened to that song this morning, and Skales was just there—nothing special. In fact, if you erased Skales from that song, it would still be a hit because of Jeremiah’s hard work and talent, not Skales.

By the way, I’m not hating on Skales, but he’s not someone any music head should brag about. At his best, he’s not even an average artist. Las las…I respect his hustle!
To me, he was a decent rapper but make we just agree to disagree.

Talking about Skales, Lamine Yamal and Barca don carry that hin shake bodi song blow 10 years after grin

The song dey trend on tiktok and is doing amazingly well on streaming platforms.

Like Mike Ejeagha like Skales.

Nigerians mostly have shitty taste in music anyway. And it's gotten worse since the 2010's.

- Banky W would have stood no chance of rising to the top today.

- Johnny Drille would barely get airplay today if he'd done "Wait For Me" today instead of in 2015.

- Nonso Amadi barely gets a listen today. Blessing Tangban who is a quality artiste never gets recognised but Yemi Alade who sings "No time for tumbo tumbo" gets all of the streams.

Bez Idakula who is the king of Nigerian alté has to focus on doing music gigs for special shows.

You forced the suave early 2010s version of Praiz to do shit music to survive. SKALES used to spit bars in the late 2000s now he does shit music for streams. "Stay", "Rich and Famous", "Stupid Song" etc by Praiz are timeless and world class.

Munachi Abii held her own against other rappers on Banky W's 2010 megahit "Lagos Party (Remix)". Her next releases got no recognition.

CAPital F.E.M.I would rival Joe and Craig David anyday but he gets no attention.

Tems had to stay away before you lots force her to do shit music. Great artiste. I listen to her whole discography everyday.

Asa tried a comeback but you all ignored her. She had to do "Manyana" to get any kind of recognition.

I feel Bnxn can do better. He writes great lyrics. He prefers the slow tempo. But if he goes full Tems or Bez, you'd all ignore him.

Nigerians mostly have shitty taste in music but when I point it out, they get defensive

To be honest, I have nothing against the guy, although I may have come off as a hater because of my criticism. I took that hardline stance because of how the previous poster wanted to use him as a standard for quality artists.

Anyway, I'm happy for him, sha. It’s not easy to dedicate almost two decades of your life to a particular career without gaining the recognition or money you desire. I hope this will be the beginning of better things for him!

Yeah, I'm happy for him too.

I just remembered Kauna Allah was not originally sang by Jeremiah Gyang.

The song was originally sang by Sgt Plus and he featured Jeremiah Gyang on the chorus. I think Jeremiah Gyang was also the producer.

The song blew somewhat and Jeremiah Gyang recorded unauthorized versions of the song featuring Skales and MI taking advantage of Sgt Plus absence in the country due to schooling or something.

This caused Sgt Plus and Jeremiah Gyang to fall out with each other.

Interesting memories.

Someone here recommended Tehran as a series to watch. I want to thank the person cos it's extremely good.

It doesn't have the gripping race against time, thrilling action, suspense & shock value of 24 but it's more realistic, more believable, and I consider it better made than 24. Even better than Day of the Jackal.

Also, I like the Israel (Mossad) vs Iran (Iran Revolutionary Guard) arch of the series. It's refreshingly different. No be every time CIA, MI6, MI5 etc go be protagonist for movie.

I binge-watched Season 1 & 2 yesterday, and I absolutely enjoyed it.

If espionage thrillers are your thing, I absolutely recommend it cos (in Ola of Lagos voice), you will love it.

Meanwhile, I read online that Season 3 is out. Can anyone help with links to download? I don search tire but I no see.
Oh they did a season 2? The ending of the first season seemed final to me.

That's nice, let me go and download the 2nd season.

Modified - there's even a season 3 . Wawu

Yanni? Nice. I was actually focusing on Nigerian artistes who do quality music. For those who aren't Nigerian, my taste is just as high. Never listened to all these mumble rappers. Of the current ones, J Cole is the only one I listen to.

More of John Bellion, Passenger, Alessia Cara, James Arthur, Lisa Hannigan... Those type of artistes.

For more Nigerian artistes who do quality music asides the ones I mentioned earlier in the day, check out and follow Dinachi. You'd love her. Follow Blessing Tangban too. Help them grow. Continue to ignore those producer-aided noisemakers hyped on social media whose songs have the lifespan of a housefly.

S..K A. L. E. S was not a good rapper in what world? Only the Loopy Crew/Choc Boiz could match SKALES for flow in rap collaborations back then.

Tell me any other Nigerian rapper asides M. I. back then who could flow as good as SKALES on Banky W's 2009 "Can't Stop Me". Not even Jesse Jagz could flow as well even though he was better gifted lyrically. Not just rap but flow well.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvyxEtL-x5Q&pp=ygUcQmFua3kgdyBza2FsZXMgY2FuJ3Qgc3RvcCBtcw%3D%3D

The boy had multiple collaborations and made Banky's "The W Experience" album a hit. SKALES might be doing shit music now to survive but when he came on the scene, Young SKALES was a force. 2009 to 2013 and EME Records held sway. Including when Shaydee came along.

How can someone with any knowledge of music claim that CAPital F.E.M.I would rival Joe and Craig David any day? Is it the same Kenny’s Music Capital F.E.M.I again?

Then you claim in the same post that Skales used to spit bars—how? The same Mukulu Mukeke Skales, or is there a second Skales we don’t know about?

Putting Skales and bars in the same sentence is a sacrilege!

Trying to force class on yourself because you enjoy a certain kind of music is capping at its best! Especially if you’re dropping names of artists who aren’t even pioneers in the genre you enjoy—unless, of course, you’re just here to cap as usual.

Abeg, enjoy your music and let others enjoy theirs in peace!
Rubbish.

Asides the visuals, tell me any of Joe's song which outshines CAPital F.E.M.I's "Only One".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6belbDT1b4&pp=ygUVQ2FwaXRhbCBGRU1JIG9ubHkgb25l

I'm the one who listens to such songs. I'm the one who follows Craig David on social media and constantly writes about him on my Facebook and Twitter handles with evidence I can show. I'm the one who celebrates his album anniversaries online just as I would again this July. I'm the one marinated in such music. And I'm the one telling you CAPital F.E.M.I does music as good as Joe. Same vocals, actually. Like Praiz, you lot have forced him to adulterate his craft just as Tems would eventually have done if not for her breakthrough abroad.

You can justify shitty taste in music. Many people do everyday. But shitty taste in music or the arts is still exactly what it is - shitty, and I've been saying it for years. Don't worry, you're not the first person to get pissed off with me for pointing out the obvious in the last one month even. It doesn't mean I'd stop stating we let good and quality artistes go to waste, sacrificing them on the altar of shit music.

As for capping? There's nothing I state there I don't post evidence for.

Anyway, not surprising. Nobody who has the presence of mind to listen to a Shalli-whatever has good taste in the singing arts anyway.

You can keep enjoying your shitty music. But at intervals, whether on Nairaland, Facebook or X, I'd keep reminding that you prioritize noise over quality and artistes so gifted shouldn't be made to dumb down just to survive. In no world should Bez be relegated to the bottom of the attention rung. In no world should Johnny Drille or Praiz have to trade their special craft to please the crass in hopes of earning from their published art.

You know what I mean. Mode 9 could rap better than most but he was poor with flows in any collaboration with a singing artiste. You listened to the song above with Banky W in 2009 and you tell me SKALES wasn't a good rapper? Come on!

He became shitty later when his deal with EME was ending with his "Mukulu". I crossed him off right then. Dude was trying to survive. I understand. He stopped rapping after EME, maybe trying to duplicate Wizkid's road to stardom. But SKALES wasn't wack when he rapped. That's unfair to him. His discography as a rapper is still available on YouTube.

S. K. A. L. E. S. is a shitty singer but he was not a shitty rapper.

I don’t know what you mean. Can you clarify what you mean by "flow well"? Or should I assume that your definition of "flow well" is when a rapper does well in any collaboration with a singing artist?

When a rapper does what S.K.A.L.E.S did on Banky W's 2009 "Can't Stop Me".

Again, point to any other rapper asides M.I. Abaga who could better SKALES' flow in 2009 and keep it classy. Remember, there was the Knighthouse crew in 2009 too.

I'd wait.
