Re: Chronicles Of Chiefs Of Army Staff (COAS) Of Nigeria by Racoon(op):
Lt General Salisu Ibrahim is my best COAS. Followed by General Martin Luther Agwai, Major Mohammed Christian Ali and Lt General Sanni Abacha.

As would be expected, the infantry corps of the army( mother of all corps) really dominated and personalized the COAS position over the ages.

Please help me ask him if he saw an Edo, Efik, Urhobo or any other major ethnic group in the South there too..... to think the SE is the same region we are hearing are struggling to fill their quota for recruitment yet those that have been filling it on a steady still don't even have one COAS

The best Chief of Army staff in Nigeria is Gen Azubike Ihejirika who under his regime Nigeria never lost any local government to BOKO HARAM ( according to Baba Jide Otitoju of TVC).

This man was so ruthless to BOKO HARAM that the northern leaders were crying up and down threatening to drag him to ICJ.

It was under him that BUHARI made the useless statement, AN ATTACK ON BOKO HARAM IS AN ATTACK ON THE NORTH.

It was under this man that the army dealt a big blow to all the criminal kidnapping gangs terrorising Abia State and Abia became peaceful again.

Let's give honor to who honor is due.

God bless you Gen Azubike Ihejirika.

Instead of giving the SE good allocation in NDA to bridge the gap, they want to use our youths as canon folders (korofo) for Boko Haram.

Interesting that Obasanjo had four Chiefs of Army Staff and none was Yoruba. It's unheard of these days for a president to have a CoAS from outside his "region". This country always progresses backward.

You are also wrong about Gen Mohammed Chris Alli's state of origin...though he grew up in the SE (and spoke Igbo) he was not from Delta (at least on his father's side).
Re: Chronicles Of Chiefs Of Army Staff (COAS) Of Nigeria by ucheicon(m): 1:47pm On Apr 15, 2025
Correct some information. Chris Alli is from Kogi not Delta. Azubuike Ihejirika was an Engineers officer not Infantry. Aliyu Mohammed was actually an Infantry officer. He just spent alot of his career in senior Intelligence roles as a result of trust by his superiors and competence. An example of this is also Brig Gen Sabo,DMI under Abacha. He was an Infantry officer

He was always bothered about looking more Nigerian than any other HOS we've ever had.

Also to be fair to him, when he was in the Army, most of his closest friends were not Yoruba officers.
