KANO, NIGERIA – The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Umar Auwal, popularly known as “Abba Dujal”, who voluntarily surrendered and confessed to committing multiple violent crimes, including murder and armed robbery, across Kano and Jigawa States.

The development was confirmed in an official statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who described the suspect’s surrender as both shocking and commendable.

Auwal, a resident of Wudil Local Government Area, reportedly walked into a police station and detailed his involvement in three separate homicides, each accompanied by theft of personal property.

“He confessed to the murder of a man in Sabon Gari Quarters, Kano, where he stabbed the victim to death and stole an Infinix Hot 40i smartphone, later sold for ₦40,000,” SP Kiyawa revealed.

In a similar gruesome attack, the suspect admitted to fatally stabbing another individual in Kurna Quarters, Kano, and stealing a Samsung S26 mobile phone, which he subsequently sold for ₦160,000.

Perhaps most disturbing was Auwal’s confession to killing a man in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State and stealing the victim’s motorcycle, which he sold for a staggering ₦300,000.

Police Response and Call for Repentance

Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the suspect for turning himself in and urged others involved in criminal activities to follow suit. The CP emphasized that the command remains steadfast in its commitment to justice, community safety, and crime prevention.

“We commend the suspect for voluntarily surrendering. His confession aids our investigations and helps deliver justice for the victims’ families. Let this be a wake-up call to others who are still in hiding,” CP Bakori stated.

The command reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on violent crime and assured the public that the safety of lives and property remains a top priority under the current administration.

The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
