It is not about the man but about the mother and the baby.
Firstly, that position(lying on her back) is not good for a pregnant woman.
Secondly, you are now exerting pressure on her while she is in a wrong position.
Thirdly, the man may mistakenly push or rest or you know act on the protruded belly.

It is more of a prevention stuff.
