billionman:
Akwa Ibom has always been one of the states with highest rate of HIV prevalence in Nigeria. The stigma and notoriety once ascribed to the virus and disease in the late 90s and 2000s waned off due to international aids and interventions, especially from the USA. As it is now that Trump has done his thing, prevalence might get higher if our government don't meet up with the challenge. HIV management and testing kits prices have shot up recently, something that was once free or almost free.

CAUTION: Everyone should protect themselves as much as they can.
I like what Trump has done . Why should US subsidize foreigner sexual indiscretion and stupidity? You want to Bleep without condom , pay for the consequences yourself . Same way the north , and the country ,is suffering from the useless, uneducated bastards they born like pigs without the means to take care of them
Look at the north . With all their resources , their leaders have useless them to the point the bulk of international aid in Nigeria goes to the north . They should cut off all the aids . Let our leaders and citizens sort out our problems ourselves . That’s why our government will keep going about cap in hand , looking for slavish loans .

This is no discovery. Akwa Ibom was number one in Nigeria from way back in the early 2000s. This was before Benue took over first place.

2 out of 10 is actually good.
In some places now, especially Lagos, it's 6 out of 10
6 out of 10 ?

In lagos? That means the hospitals should be flooded with the patients by now. There are many people in Lagos o.

Sometimes, I wonder why the virus hasn't spread like wildfire in this country cos many of us are still ignorant and careless. How would guys that abuse drugs and drinks at clubs be reasonable to make use of condoms.

It's always fake.
I can prove to who ever that doubts me.

The high posiive case is of the result of monthly target given to the volunteers.

To secure their work, they do as the courtesy demands.

I witnessed same as well when I served in 2013 at Maritime Academy, Oron in Akwa Ibom state. It was very rampant there then. I had two civil servants in my unit who had HIV. They weren’t hiding it then. Thursdays was for their retroviral drugs. It was really scary for me then

Many should be worried of High blood pressure too, cos it is a silent killer. lipsrsealed

Anyway, something must kill a man.

I loss two of my colleagues last year. One had stroke and died while the other slept and didn't wake up.

nairalanda1:
Damm, it is real. I know., I have seen people die from it. Why it easily spread globally was because of the jet age. X can travel from Europe to Africa, infect a hoe, who would infect several of her customers.

Also, the thing spreads via concurrent spread. Here people have sex parters that also have sex partners.

And if it was a scam, thing is many of these oyinbo pharma companies have lost money on HIV drugs. It has not been profitable.

Finally, we are on the verge of victory. We get better drugs every year. THe difficulty is HIV , like many viruses, gets so many variants. We are lucky in the sense that the drug combination we use deals with many of the variants.

Drug treatment has really improved, we even have a drug that can be injected once every 3 months, and the viral load stays down.

Now let me let you in on a secret. HIV Is a viral thing. There are many viruses in the world. 90% of them have no cure. YES...including that one that causes cattarh. The reason why we are not dead is that most of them are self limiting. Some , like HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and even chicken pox are not.

Infact, chicken pox virus is a bad virus. Because while catching it may make you immune, when you get old, the immune system can go down, and the virus then manifests as something called shingles...and boy if you get that....you will see grown ass adults weeping like children

HIV even better pass rabies.

HIV, catch am...may take 20 years without treatment to manifest

Rabies, catch am...if you no go for rabies serum, you will be dead in 18 months.
Is shingles supposed to be painful?

And is it a reoccurring infection?

Shebi I have been saying it on this platform...!

The spread of HIV/AIDS is already way out of hand in this nation, and we are all acting like it's nothing.

Not to mention Hepatitis B, and the raging drug-resistant strain of Gonorrhea.

Make una dey knack raw dey go!

Soon, it will be 1 in every 10 persons with such deadly infections.

With serious cutting in funding for the Meds, they will become highly expensive to manage, leading to higher mortality rates.

You shouldn't even sleep with a girl or guy these days without certifying their Infection status...

Not all condoms can guarantee your safety... No thanks to influx of fake shit into the nation.
Very good lifesaving advice.

True talk.

Many years ago a State government in Nigeria offered free HIV testing to residents. The take up was VERY low as people were afraid of knowing with certainty that their lack of protection during sex has finally caught up with them.

Take your time to visit the HIV clinics during their clinic days and you'll see what I'm saying. Old patients still exist and are healthy despite being positive.
Because of the medications, people aren't dying from the virus unlike in the years past. But new infections are still ongoing and with people now refusing to wear a condom, it might increase soon
