All you've been shouting is I can afford it, I make money from it, everyone else can burn and the govt must support lawlessness.

The issue is not about price increase but following due process before price increase. ISPs must sought regulatory approval before increasing prices and Starlink failed to do so. That to you doesn't matter, and they must not leave no matter what they do, but I'll educate you.

1. Let's concede, they followed due process and increased the prices to 75k. The entry price of 38k is above the affordability threshold of most Nigerians and 75k means only the rich in our society will use the service. Please don't compare prices in Nigeria to other African countries, if you've lived there you've lived in other sub-Sahara countries, you'll understand why prices should be cheaper in Nigeria.

2. Govt have the right to regulate prices in the telecoms sector. The state of New York (a very rich state compared to Nigeria) requires ISPs to offer an entry price of $15. AT&T said they're leaving, others adjusted. $15 can't get you a good lunch in NY but you can get a good internet service for an entire month.

3. If you understand the business model of Starlink, you'll understand it's a numbers game. It's better for them to accept new subscribers at the current price than operating with the same number (use your head).

4. Forget about the noise, they are upgrading their facilities and once they're done with the first phase, they'll accept more subscribers and maybe also give you the price increase that you so much desire.

5. The US is their largest market, some people were on wait list for about 2 years and now they charge a congestion fee of $100 in addition to the cost of equipment. They also place Nigerian orders on a waitlist stating they're congested and when they're ready, they'll fulfill the orders.

Sir, don't think only about yourself and that will help you to reason better.
Why should Nigeria be cheaper when they run alternative electricity for most of the time than some African countries that pay higher?

While we argue about who cannot afford what the policy of the NCC is building in the current phase of the expansion plan that starlink is doing for DSTVs benefit, make una help me abeg.

I currently am one of the "priveledged elite" that can "afford" the 38k sub. Thing is, I would be moving to a new apartment this weekend (about 7km from my current place) and I wanted to know if I could change my service address and retain my current residential plan. That business plan is not for "elite" people like me abeg.
I think plan may be by account not service area

You are getting it all wrong again. US has never been congested for starlink. Only parts of US are congested, not USA. Don't confuse part with whole.
If entire Nigeria is indicated as congested on their site it tells you the reason isn't about congestion but something else. So as not to speculate Starlink Nigeria literally confirmed they are pausing their service for conflict reasons with NCC. You don't need to cook up another reason apart from that which they confirmed.

I'm thinking selflessly?
In same message to Nigerian they said if it isn't resolved they could terminate their service in Nigeria (which I know isn't gonna happen though). But it's you who is also being selfish. Some of us live in forests without mobile network. We will do anything to pay for starlink to come online. If its 38k for all, we are happy, but if 75k is only way out to help me get Internet like everyone, then I'm ready to pay that too. I just don't want starlink getting pissed off and leaving Nigeria and I'm offline while you just simply switch to mtn coz you've options.
You are also being selfish for wanting someone's business to fail because you want cheap prices. He's not the one depreciating your naira. How can he run his business with $20 per client when in other places it's $43 or even $150 for Europe. They are destroying the man's Tesla everywhere too and you want him to do father Christmas for you.
Blame your govt, not Elon Musk or starlink. They can't give you a service at a loss.

If you can't afford starlink, move to the option you can. If not, you can also fight for lamborgini to be sold for 2m naira so that every Nigerian can afford it
My MTN Is pretty useless once it’s dark, but you see Starlink? Works.

I can’t even do videos with MTN, because within 5HRS your data varnishes on top the slow thing o

believe some people are trying to sabotage Starlink’s presence in this country. Economically, it doesn’t favor them, so they’re using the NCC to frustrate it. The truth is, Starlink has taken over Nigeria’s internet market, and they’re scared that, in the near future, it will push every other network provider out. That’s why they’re now scrambling to launch a competing satellite service desperate moves.

But their plans to shut down or frustrate Starlink won’t work. Just this month alone, I’ve used over 600GB of data with Starlink. Tell me, which other service provider offers that for ₦38k, let alone with their painfully slow speeds? Honestly, granting Starlink an operational license is probably the only good thing the Nigerian government has done for its people and even that was accidental. If they had known how beneficial it would be to Nigerians, they wouldn’t have approved it in the first place.
Na so, how is it that everyone else has increased priced and data varnishes anyhow yet Starlink is the only one still being held.

Why do you guys always like false narratives. As at last year Nigeria was the only Africa country with ground stations. Starlink underestimated the market and poor planning led to traffic congestion. There's a lot of work going on in the Nigerian infrastructure and the African market. If they're planning to leave, they won't be spending more money on upscaling.
Kuiper is on track and will also be in the Nigeria market. OneWeb is gradually expanding and already in the African market.
Kuiper that is yet to launch? So we should wait for atleast 5 years for these ones you mentioned to get to Nigeria ?

As a previous Starlink owner, while I commend Starlink's services, it's false narrative to say that at 75k they have no competition.

I switched to the Airtel unlimited plan since selling off my starlink and so far so good in my location it has been nothing short of amazing and totally up to par for my needs( I do between 700gb to 1tb monthly). Infact with a battery back up of up to 6hrs, I am even more at an advantage.

As someone that have used both, I can comfortably tell you that I DON'T MISS STARLINK !
Good for you, well inside this bush there is no competition

You're wrong. As a previous Starlink owner on Airtel unlimited plan I can comfortably tell you that I don't miss Starlink. I do 700gb-1Tb monthly and there is no compromise on speed.

I stream football games, watch Netflix and Prime on 4k if available, and do very good download speeds, very similar to Starlink @30k. Was 20k previously.

Bottom line is Starlink is great, but considering cost of hardware, lack of battery back up, downtimes from damaged kits and having to get replacements e.t.c, the Airtel unlimited internet data is by far a better deal !

Plus Airtel's customer care is very active on twitter to resolve issues in case of downtimes.
Can you get a replacement router if the one you have blow up or get damaged?

Same Airtel that told me I can’t use MIFI SIM inside a phone ? Lol

Guys, Can I get the starlink on Ebay. Can I buy directly from the US?
I do not want to buy from these Nigerian sellers offering cut throat prices.

Just be patient. You'll soon buy from starlink less than 600k

Connect the poe+ to starlink via Ethernet cable. Then poe+ to your access point.
Go to gdms.cloud to create an account. When they reply, you log in and add your access point to the cloud management. When successful, reset your device and it'll be managed by cloud and you can do all your settings as you wish from the cloud site or mobile app GWN.

I learnt it all from YouTube tutorials oh. You can search and watch videos there and get to know what to do. If I could, you will too very easily.
Good morning. I'm back again.
Can you please recommend devices my customers can purchase to improve the AP signal for indoor use ?

Hello everyone, I have a question. Two questions actually.

I’m currently on the Starlink residential plan, and I’d like to know if it’s possible to write to Starlink to temporarily suspend my subscription and have it restored in about two months. This is because I’m planning to relocate from Rivers State to Lagos, and I need some time to sort out my accommodation and settle in.

Also, I’d appreciate it if someone could clarify whether I’ll be able to continue using the residential plan in Lagos. I’ve heard that Lagos might be congested and may not have enough bandwidth availability for new or existing users on the residential plan.
Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by Ayomipoe(m): 11:48pm On Apr 18, 2025
You can cancel your subscription without chatting with customer support.

Getting back to residential plan after canceling is the problem.

Think about it this way. Is it worth keeping it, if it is then just close eye make you pay for the 2 months, as if they disconnect you, what you'll pay for the first one month go still pass those one month. However, reaching out to the CS won't hurt.
