I rejected the same amount for an online job that was even part-time...

I was offered $400 for an online tech job and I refused it, only tech guys will understand. It takes a lot of effort to gather tech skills, mine even involved using a foreign language which I learned for so many years, so I just felt it was too small and that was why I rejected it.

That's why he is comfortable living with it here in Nigeria .
Nonsense.
Minimum wage in Nigeria is N70,000
People are earning it and are not dead.
Minimum wage in UK is roughly £11 per he. Or say £2000 a month.
Convert to Naira. N3,600,000.
And you will still FINISH all of it in UK and be begging for overtime. Because you are locked down and tied to spending that money in UK.
Abeg leave the guy and his N550k. He's doing much better than many of you overseas.
Small earnings,
Small expenses.

Theirs is better

We have 133m will no hope of seeing 1k the next day. Multidimensionally poor. USA still got lots of govt policies that can assist these kind of families. Definitely not Nigeria. Which is why i hate all the side picking. Wasting loyalty and solidarity for what's never changing.
Believe it or not, difference is not as much as you think. In Nigeria you can make all sorts of money on the side invisible to the govt, you can even be a millionaire and pay no taxes.
Not so in US. The govt sees almost every kobo and you only qualify for govt stuff if you're making almost no money!

Seriously?

N550,000 * 12 = N6.6m

N6.6m * 6 years = N39,600,000m

Are you saying a tokunbo vehicle costs at least N39,600,000m?

Like I know people lie, but this your lie is so unintelligent.
lol... This one does not know there are Tokumbo vehicles of 54m ..that are at least 16 yrs old

Don't always let mgbeke side of you always show itself when u see comments like these

See how she infused 'atleast' into my statement... So u are also dubious grin

This is wrong calculation.

It should be a year and not 6 yrs

550k x 12 equal 6.6m and that should buy a clean car
6.6m clean toks?

Abeg where?

Even Corolla 2003 (bolt) na 8 to 9m and that's a 22 year old small car

You need financial discipline... Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you're reckless with spending but you might be spending on things that you shouldn't. Go through your bank statement for the past 3 months and adjust your living
Re: ₦550k Still Looks Small As A Salary by MrBadNews: 5:48pm On Apr 19, 2025
Earning in naira is kinda frustrating sha, currently earning #800,000 with a firm, fuel and feeding sucks 50 percent, while the remaining goes to rent, data and siblings.

Okay. Noted. What’s your point?

Well, even though I am aware that school fees aren’t paid monthly, and I know that truly rich people don’t talk like this.

Let me go with your flow

What’s the idea behind coming online to brag about now much you pay for your daughter’s fees when you can clearly see how some people are screaming that they can barely eat?

What joy does it give you to make others feel like you are better off?

You clearly lack wisdom. It’s people like you that bring attacks to your poor wife and kids at home because your life’s worth is based on how others perceive you.

Life is but a breath, sir.

A man’s life doesn’t constitute of what he has. Stay humble. Even if you achieved what you have through hard work, encourage others not flaunt to them how much your daughter’s fees is. Completely unnecessary.

Ewedegubbler:
My daughters monthly school fees is 1.5m naira equivalent

Roger that

Acidosis:
Although Nigeria is in a bad shape, 550k is still great. More important is that we all have to live within our means. The value of money lies in how wisely you use it to meet your needs and achieve your goals. The figure is secondary.

E.g., a good pair of shoes (not necessarily a branded original) typically starts at around 70k in Idumota. But, you can still get a good quality, custom-made pair from a local shoemaker in your neighborhood for half the price. Again, the value of money lies in your hands.

Before you spend 20k eating out at one sitting as a single guy, think about paying a caterer to cook same food for you in your house. You will get more quantity (large enough to store), better taste, more value for your money, and better hygiene. Again, the value of money lies in your hands.

I am not saying it's a great salary...

It's fair.

But why do the guys above have to convert to dollar and pound like that's the currency spent in Nigeria!
That's the reality of Nigeria presently o. Our wealth is stored in Dollars. Would you blame people if they measure their resources with same. If the country can function without the Greenback, it will save us a lot of stress in this country.
