PROLOGUE

God lives. Yes, He lives. His spirit endures throughout generations, for He is God." The pastor's voice echoed from the pulpit as I nodded in affirmation of his words.

He lives, I thought, half teary-eyed.

Fifteen years. Fifteen long years spent in the world, but now I was back. Back to Him, never to go astray again. I didn't even realize when I shouted, "Hallelujah!" All eyes were on me. I could make out Mom's watchful eyes from the sea of people that were staring at me. I hadn't even noticed I had risen from my chair. My heart was glowing with joy. I could also see Mom's proud smile; the one that revealed she had never been prouder than she was in that moment. Her daughter was back; her baby-the one the demon once had a hold on. I gave a nervous smile and sat back down, but it felt good to shout it out. Hallelujah! He has delivered me. Joyous tears ran down my cheeks. The little girl beside me looked at me like I had gone insane. And yes, she was right! I was insanely in Christ.

Before my deliverance-before my freedom from sin-I was an addict. The kind every parent warns their children about. A drug addict, a porn addict, and even a master criminal. I couldn't go a day without doing the things that gladdened my heart. They stuck to me like a plague, like an odorous smell that lingered even after you'd washed yourself clean.

My addiction to porn started when I was 12. Poor, innocent me had no idea what I was up against. My cousin, Eliza, had visited during the holidays and exposed me to her adult rituals. She was much older than me-six years older-but we got along well. She was the complete opposite of what Mom thought of her. A wolf dressed in sheep's clothing. At night, when the lights went out and everyone was asleep, she'd turn on her laptop and get right to it. The worst of all beasts. Masturbation. At that time, I had no idea what it was. We shared the same bedroom, though not the same bed, which gave me the opportunity to watch while she indulged in sin's deceiving pleasure. She was unaware that I lay silently in bed, pretending to be fast asleep while she worked herself out until sleep came. It wasn't until one day- the day my cup was full-that I realized she wasn't as clueless as I had thought. I thought I was smart, but she was one step ahead of me, even smarter.

"I know you're awake," her voice made me freeze. "Don't be shy," she said to my utter surprise. "Well, come on."

Fear and surprise gripped me as she called me over.

"Come on..."

My body vibrated with reluctance as I slowly lifted myself from the bed.

"I want you to watch, too-"

My cousin, whom Mom trusted so much and whom I had once looked up to, turned out to be the villain in my gut-wrenching, yet heart-lifting story.
