Dear Nairalanders,

For years, people have been alleging that Nairaland is a toxic place where people insult each other and exhibit uncontrolled tribal bigotry. So after my last thread, we decided to follow through by extending the mandate of our anti-spam bot to include dealing with toxicity.

Unfortunately, the roll out wasn't smooth: many innocent members were unjustly banned. We apologize profusely for this. We will keep tweaking the bot to make it more accurate. Meanwhile, please reach out to the mods and supermods if you are unjustly banned.

Hit me with your suggestions and complaints.

You can't get it once. Keep tweaking the bot and it will get to that point.
The bad eggs need to be flushed out. Innocent young minds are indirectly corrupted here because of the foolishness of a few, making nairaland lose its credibility.
And kudos to all the very old members who have maintained decorum despite the provocations. Some of us would rather ignore than join the profanity.
Gradually, Nairaland will be sane again.


PS: Feels good to be FTC, best still, on the boss's post. There are levels to these things. I feel like I'm standing on your heads

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to stop tribalism and racism. Nothing. Human beings are always looking for someone to vent their frustrations and failures in life on.
If it's not their stepmother, mother, Uncle, sibling; then they move to strangers: the neighbor, other village, other tribe and then other race. One day, they will be blaming aliens.

Anyone that has an ounce of sanity and a bit of brain matter knows deep in their hearts that an entire tribe or race cannot be bad.

Dealing with insult, tribal slur, negative remark just because u are from certain tribe, none respect etc should be a number one priority

Political section was my favourite but i dare not visit there because of what they turned it to..
I remembered talking to a friend about nairaland all he could say was its a toxic forum

I kept wondering what was toxic or bad about my simple post in Politics section that got me a whole 2-day ban.

Not a problem sha... Keep sanitising your site. Especially that Politics section.

@Seun, I don't think you're honest with this 'Hit me with your suggestions' request you make every now and then.
How about providing feedback on key suggestions proffered in the past. E.g
1: The suggestion on dislike button, we have made 45% progress ... Better still, we can't implement this because ...

Finally, it Seems Seun has woken up from sleep at midnight when people are sleeping to sanitize nairaland.

Meanwhile, nothing has change cos all I see here is mods who promote hatred towards a particular ethnic group here by always posting negative news about them.

This is not nairaland I joined in 2011.

Good move. Nairaland is loaded with valuable useful information, we shouldn't allow bigotry to pollute this space. A good number of the bigots actually hate this forum and wishing for her downfall. There is therefore no reason they should be given any breathing space.

Seun you have acted like a true leader should by taking responsibility and apologizing, I commend you and urge you to keep up the good work!!..

It's not easy managing people, bots and your team.

Although I have my reservations on your will to implement any suggestions or observations raised, I have been on Nairaland since 2012 I can tell you very little has changed.

I am still on this platform because it offers real time information, divergence views and no platform or news outlets can beat or match what you do here.

A big Kudos to you for this visionary contribution to us Nigerians.

WTF!!! Truth be the told,the high level of tribal bigotry on this forum is top notch,never seen anywhere.

Super mods or mods need to work more as bots will do what it was created to do
When they are called upon to a certain post or individual,necessary bg checks should be done to ascertain such a post or individual and necessary punishment should follow suit to serve as deterrent to others
People wake and just create new profile to target or for the purpose of trolling a person,business or an account owner that contradicts their opinions

Lols... I don chop the ban twice last evening. Was never banned before so I didn't even know what was happening earlier.

Would even suggest make E be say people dey upload their original photos for here ( don't know how possible it's gonno be sha to be sure it's one's legit picture)....would wanna see what or how some persons look like when they keep supporting experienced looters and failures....

My main account santity88@yahoo.com was ban since last year. I don't know what happened. I only come here to read news. You may do a background check on it. I have reset password n still nothing.pls help address this
