Lol, you have mentioned those that traveled out and are struggling, but you forgot to mention those that traveled and are making it. I have a sibling who was working at an international airport in Nigeria as a nurse, yet she could only afford to live in a room and parlour and had zero assets. She traveled to the UK and within a couple of years, she had properties worth 10's of millions and have visited a number of countries on holiday. These are things she couldn't have dreamed of if she stays in Nigeria for 15 years. Most people that travel abroad also face pressure from friends and family in Nigeria for help. Regardless, if one is focused abroad & is willing to work hard, they can easily save as much as $600 to $1000 monthly. You know how much that is in naira? How many people can earn that in Nigeria as their full salary talk more of savings? If the exchange rate is $1 to 100 naira, do you think anyone would be talking about japa? The fact that your currency has been made worthless and you still earn it in peanuts means you won't escape poverty because inflation alone already makes nonsense of your earnings. The project an average abroad based person can undertake in a month, an average based Nigerian can't attempt it in one year. A wise person who think deeply should know what is best between traveling out or staying in Nigeria. Those that hoped for a better Nigeria died with frustration. Saviola86: |

proeast:You spent time writing epistles and ended by saying a wise person who thinks deep should know what to do but I doubt you are a deep thinker because if you are you wouldn't have countered my opinion or reasons I have for not fancying Japa. First of all, before one travels he must be certain about the contacts he has over there that will serve as a support system to enable him integrate easily. Do you think money falls on trees in abroad? Or if I travel without a proper support system do you think I will integrate quickly? My friends over there will be my support system when I go there and if they are not doing well or yet to settle in the country, do you think they will be willing to add to their problem? Your sister you said worked in the airport and obviously must have built contacts and relationships that made her move and integrated easily. If you like japa without having someone over there to hold your hands you will learn the hardway |

GboyegaD:My ancestors migrated because the would not be slaves to anyone. They migrated to create their own world, not to worship and lick the arses of anyone. We are making ourselves slaves. |

irumole1975:Nigerians are the most hateful people you will ever meet; but our hatred is directed towards ourselves, not towards others. But many of us are breaking out of that mould. There is no place like Africa! |

SamuraiXXX:Thanks! I was just frustrated. It is kinda annoying our desperation, not only to leave, but to disparage and condemn our nation! |

Casham:Who are the "we" you are referring to? If anyone chooses to worship and lick asses like you put it, it is their choice, just respect it. Perhaps, those migrating are doing that as a means to create their own world and not lick asses of their current leaders whose visions they believe do not align with theirs. |

I initially didn’t want to respond, but here goes: I have watched my mother take her last breath at LASUTH due to a misdiagnosis. I have mourned a sibling who lost her battle with cancer, not because treatment was unavailable, but because she couldn’t access the radiotherapy she needed despite having health insurance. I have stared death in the face myself simply because I refused to pay a ₦20,000 bribe to a policeman at Ogba all because I was driving a newly registered tokunbo car . Everyone has their own reasons for wanting to leave this country. It may not be all rosy on the other side, but at least the structure is green enough to function. Sell the property bro.. it’s worth it. If it’s not enough, sell your kidney, liver and two eyes. You’re going abroad bro..it’s worth it.. when you get there, the white people will get you another eye, kidney and liver. Their country is very advanced and there’s nothing they can’t do. Please sell what you have and leave the country[/quote] |

GboyegaD:I am very sure that's what y'all keep telling yourselves. Even people like Kemi Badenoch who didn't migrated; people who were born there are now being made to understand that they do not really belong. It's okay. Lets all pretend it doesn't matter. They are only looking for a better life. I just wish them all the best. But as you, it is none of my business; their actions do not affect me in any way. |
