230k Job Or Starting My Own Business?? by Nezy4Real(op): 6:51pm On Apr 20, 2025
I have been working as a Pharmacist in a private hospital for about a year now. Lately I have become bored of the job due to it routine nature and something deep down in me does not want to continue the job for too long. I love something more dynamic and flexible so that I can effectively be in charge of my own time. I have worked as a community Pharmacist during my service and i enjoyed it better than the hospital practice. I have always nurtured a dream to set up my own Pharmacy soon. So recently, I got pledge from a family relative to set up a community Pharmacy for me so that we can run a joint partnership with him. I will bring the license and the manpower why he brings the capital for the setting up.
Now I'm considering resigning from my work place to pursue that process squarely. What do you guys think?

The location in mind rn is somewhere in Kogi State however we are open to other options, especially areas with better purchasing power and a high population.

Working for yourself could be better. Joint venture is equally good but what I fear is what I call,' Nigerian Factor'. If the terms are carefully spelled out with legal backing and severance clauses when necessary, go ahead. Otherwise, start small where you are, give yourself a target and try to invest out of your salary and influence.
Anyway you know better with the partner.

Thank you for your contribution. Actually the partner is my uncle and the agreement is 33% to him, 33% to me and reinvest 34% back into the business to grow it. So he will be a life partner in the business unless if he decides to leave it for me.
This sharing formula is after the overhead cost have being deducted.

I am not doubting or discouraging you. You have a good relationship with your uncle now. You should look at the wife's, children factor also. Put everything in black and white in case of the unforeseen future. Best of luck.
