Dear Nairalanders,

I want to thank you for your continued feedback and patience as we tackle the crisis caused by our decision to use the antispam bot to enforce more rules on Nairaland. While the action helped us to tackle many chronic issues, it also led to disastrous ban of hundreds of innocent Nairalanders. To significantly improve accuracy and reduce frustrating errors, we have refocused the bot's tasks. It will avoid moderating complex issues that require human nuance that it cannot reliably provide.

While we work on further improvements, here are some tips to ensure your posts don't accidentally trigger the bot under its current, focused mandate:
- Keep your posts related to the thread topic.
- You can disagree strongly with fellow Nairalanders, but do not insult them.
- Don't put any type of obscene content on Nairaland.
- Do not encourage or call for violence against anyone.
- Don't spam or try to scam Nairalanders. We will not tolerate this.
- Don't illegally upload or post links to illegally download copyrighted music, movies, games, or software.

We believe these changes are a significant step towards a better balance – tackling clear violations more effectively while minimizing the frustration caused by bot errors on complex social issues. We will continue to monitor the bot's performance closely.

Thank you for being part of the Nairaland community.

Best Regards,
Seun Osewa.

ChatGPT is helping this one construct official reports. Thank God for AI. As at this morning, the bot was at its most efficient. Don’t be lenient on trolls and derailers.

No, it's not.
You just don't know how to use it.

Besides, not every feature is beneficial for everybody.

Typical Nigerian...

Will always kiss those at the top's arse no matter how wrong they are

Seun is over-policing what is to be posted on this site by adults.A little jibe here and there has never hurt anyone but one gets banned for petty jives for days/weeks nowadays.

It is not only an extreme action but also moronic and disrespectful to the posters who make/made Nairaland what it is

Freedom of speech is gone in Nariarland, it is already gone to the dogs, APC have affected it. And you know whatever they touch dies.

Suppressing and repressing people's opinion is not a way forward. What you see as insult to me might not be seen as so to me and what you term "strong objection" might be seen as insult.

The world is a place of the survival of the fittest. If If you cannot stand the rain stay in doors that's to say if you cannot withstand "insult" just keep quiet on issues but if we have to adjust our opinions to please the weak lily hearted ones among us then it's no longer a free world.

The "everyone is responsible for his or her comments on Nairaland" is enough for you to free us....insults are subjective just as praise are too.

Is it me or has this charade become a quarterly exercise here on Nairaland? 🫤

it usually starts with frequent demands for chance from Nairalanders, and it is followed up with a promise that change would come. After that, the antispam bots --- Nairaland's dogs in rabid mode --- are released on us all in the forum. We complain about that and then the attack dogs are called back and then we all go back to the way things were again. What in the world is all of this exactly for?😩😩😩

Why is Nairaland being run the same way Nigerian politicians run things in Nigeria for Pete's sake? 🫤🫤🫤

Dear Seun,

Thank you for your efforts.

Please we also need dislike or downvote button. It will really go well with the like button

With that, we can (to an extent) judge and visualise accurately how popular an opinion is.

That feature plus the anonymity of this platform, Nairaland can roughly be used to sample opinion of Nigerians on national and personal issues.

Thank you for your attention.
