2027 is def going South, that much is sure.

Tinubu has dealt with Atiku too much for him to make any serious run in 2027, and Peter Obi can do without the Atiku baggage, so the "Core North" finds itself at a crossroad, support Tinubu to see out his 8 years, or back Peter Obi for a 4 year agreement ( grin).

If they choose not to support BAT and by hook or crook he ends up winning, the core North risks political alienation. Both sides will need see eye-to-eye if BAT is to have a somewhat smooth run into 2027, hopefully, and for the good of the nation, they remain at loggerheads.

Peter Obi's 6 million votes (INEC declared) are still in the bag.

Theflint1:
Those core North votes tend to coalesce around the sentiments of its leaders, and as long as Peter Obi is running BAT would still need their blessing.

Peter Obi remains a major force in the South and Middle-Belt states and it doesn't matter whether BAT converts all the governors in these states to APC. As long as the people of the Southern and Middle-Belt states are prepared to come out to vote en-masse, and are ready to stand behind their votes, BAT stands no chance.

The message now should be militant defense of votes during and post-election.
And who are the Northern leaders in Obi corner that will push his candidacy to the Northerner?

Tinubu and APC have sitting governors. Atiku and PDP have sitting governors plus he is the son of the soil

The only way to unseat Tinubu is the alliance of Atiku and Obi forces. Any other thing we are just wasting time

You don't unseat a sitting govt by fragmenting your votes, you only remove a sitting govt through alliance

This is the point where it is only decent and brotherly to remind people to buy maps and calculators. grin

Wishful thinking does not win elections o.

If you are the typical Northerner who wants power As soon as practicable

You have Tinubu for 4 more years, Or Obi to start a potential 8yrs

As a Northerner, if you cannot get power in 2027, then it pays to just support Tinubu and wait 4yrs. Which is why I always maintain the Atiku top of ticket is the most realistic way to unseat Tinubu with Obi supporting the same ticket

The way PDP has been destabilized, Its a risk to pick their tickets cos you will most likely get disqualified in court for being under the wrong party chairman. That is why SDP came on board

Atiku will be running under the PDP, or a party that expects to get some votes down South. Whatever votes Atiku got in the South and Middle-Belt in 2023 will be even less in 2027, the man stands zero chance.

I do agree that Peter Obi and BAT(especially) need those core North votes, how they'd go about getting it is left to be seen.

The rational thing, thinking towards 2031 is to back BAT. Maybe the gra gra that these core North politicians are doing is to bring BAT to the negotiating table...maybe.

What I know though is Atiku doesn't stand any chance, and Peter Obi running under Atiku would dim his popularity among his supporters...many, even within the Obidient movement are opposed to power returning North.

The "Core North" will have to swallow a bitter pill, calm down and back BAT, or support Peter Obi. I don't see them being neutral, they'd pick a side.

An Atiku - Obi alliance with Atiku at the top of the ticket is the only way to unseat Tinubu, whether its in PDP SDP or any party.

If they can start quickly repairing whatever damage has been caused by PDP, bring back all the forces together and the dissenting governors.

Elections is less than 2yrs from today, The earlier they put their house in order, the better

A Tinubu vs Obi wont move any Northerner to be passionate about the election, they either will stick to Tinubu who has just 4yrs more constitutionally and will have more money to run the election or just sit at home

Lmaoo.. What exactly does Atiku have to offer Obi?

Last year he got 6m without structure unlike atiku.
The structure atiku has is gone now.. So were atiku even plan to see money?
His former vp candidate (okowa) just joined apc. 😂😂😂😂.

I genuinely think Tinubu hates Atiku because this public undressing na die

Now you are getting the game. You first raise hell and dust and towards the election, you get some concession and compromise waiting for your 4yrs

If BAT wins 2027, Immediately you will see the Northern politician civil war positioning themselves towards 2031 and seeking for BAT/FG anointing starring El Rufai, Ribadu, Shetimma, Kwankwanso etc. That is when you will start seeing the full backstabbing of Atiku in public

E dey do am like goat wey dem dey roast for fire grin grin grin

Atiku has nothing to offer any Southern PDP governor today that would make them go his way...nothing at all. I think he has something to offer Obi though, just not with him at the top of the ticket...anything Atiku with Obi running under will be net neutral at best.

E be like you really rate this Atiku sha...Atiku for 2031 ke?

2027 is Atiku leveraging his very last drops of relevance. By 2031 the North would have completely moved on from their Atiku's generation of politicians. Even within politics, ageism is a thing, and by 2031 Atiku would be 84-85.

Like Buhari only death can stop Atiku from contesting. His Camerounian brother Paul Biya still dey contest at 100yrs. Its an obsession for him and he has the money too. He has contested every election in Nigeria either as candidate, VP or party primary for the past 33yrs

He has built a lot of alliances over that time and he is very formidable too. It was how he was able to beat Wike to the ticket in 2023 even though he flew in from Dubai a few weeks earlier

I get am before no mean say you get am today. Atiku does not have the clout he had even 4 years ago, and his PDP structure being pulled from underneath his legs proof of that...he's a politician that has gotten by through his popularity within political circles, if he's this unpopular where his strength lies, e mean say e don comot kpatakpata.

Anybody that thinks gathering politicians like thanos rings while governing horribly is enough to give him victory is on a long thing. Gathering politicians is important, so too is having the voting populace, or some of the voting mass on your side. BAT is unpopular across board within the voting populace.
