Many Nigerians on Facebook, many many, tell lies about the school they attended.
Deliberate filling this in?
Why??

They either fill in a top university abroad, or a top federal school in Nigeria, A big name.
This has been so since the golden age of Facebook in Nigeria about 10, 11 years ago to today.
Still so till today, this very day.
This is not mistake as one may think initially (very fee of them are genuine mistakes) this is deliberate.

They will fill in a big name of a secondary school sometimes too. And false University
Then a false working place sometimes too. Maybe slightly related to the profession they do. But it's false.

Over and over and over again.
Many persons I know offline by virtue of Stumbling on their profile online, I see this.

I have so much to say and write about this. So so much.
Exploring this psychological madness that's drawing me to do so.
I hope I have time to do so.

They lie on LinkedIn let alone faceless Facebook!

I've never given it much thought. Although my cousin put Uniport in her Facebook profile for years despite nothing until last year when she eventually gained admission to the school. So there's that.

I can't relate...probably gen zees that didn't go to school or didn't graduate

Take Facebook profile info with a pinch of salt

Everyone wants to feel important on social media.

It is called online respect.... I can't even remember that there's anything called Facebook.

Social media is filled with lies. The sooner you realize the less bothered you would be

All those stories or experiences people share especially on Twitter, all big lies.

It starts from the leader. The No.1 citizen!

I was young then and didn't think of its consequence.

Let’s agree is the school they wish they would attend but never happened. If you can’t materialize real life not bad doing that on Facebook. Don’t take it too seriously

You mean all these rubbish schools that don't teach any sensible thing but are only interested in graduating half baked illiterates year in year out?

Nigeria is a country of liars and fraudulent people. We have a culture of lie and fraud. So rest.

I remember being attracted to a beautiful girl from my village I saw on Facebook, she also attends our native church. I saw her as modest, and bright cos she really appears bright from her post, and videos.. Only for me to slide into her DM thinking all things being equal, I might give her chance cos of cultural reason. Then I saw University of Ibadan on her profie, I was so glad and anxious cos I have certain things to do with University of Ibadan.
I therefore asked her, "Did you graduate from UI" - only for her to say No. I dint even ask more que.
Omo, my attraction for her dropped from 100 to 5% immediately. And that was the end of the chat till today.

People still use Facebook?
