Dont mind people, I studied Educational Psychology, I never stepped into the class to teach, but presently I am a senior manager in an Oil and Gas company, you have opportunity to go for a higher course if you choose, no degree is bad, i know someone that studied Adult education and came out with a 3rd class, but today he has 2 private jets and good business here in Nigeria.
Congratulations dear

But I can tell you for a fact that somebody in one way or the other helped you to enter Oil and Gas.

I can understand u may not want to admit it here openly. I understand.

As for the person that made 3rd Class in Adult Education, the person is is doing something else cos we all know that no degree in this world can buy one a Private Jet.

Nobody helped me but God, my point is that any degree is not a waste, the 3rd class degree did not buy the jet but he got his first job with that degree which was a starting point.

One of the best decisions I made in life is studying
Applied Mathematics with Masters in Statistics

Now I'm doing a PhD in GIS
Pls sir, I'm a recent graduate of Geography and a GIS/Data analysis enthusiast as well. I'd like to ask how life is treating you as a Geospatial individual. Are you working in Nigeria?

No course is deemed BAD but those that study them. First degrees are largely a foundation to broaden one's horizon.

Maybe some lecturers lack some Information to guide their students

This is because Nigeria is still a jungle of savages. Why you no add engineering? I made sure none of the people after me had any interest in engineering "na me know book pass" syndrome. After years of wasting my life studying engineering, I am now more or less a technician and the complete illiterates who did not even go to any school are the ones Nigerians call "engineer" everywhere. Abi all those phone repairers for computer village, wetin una dey call them?

This country is a mess. My only relief is that though I had no proper guidance growing up, I have guided those after me aright, even if they don't know enough to have gratitude
Good evening sir. What aspect of engineering did you study?. Engineering is a broad field. Additionally, are you competent in Engineering design and skilled in the utilisation of the engineering tools associated with your profession? If you are, you would not find it difficult getting a job and practicing your profession, speaking from experience of close to two decades practicing structural engineering.

This list was obviously created by someone who has never traveled to the western word. I will use psychology as an example. If you have a Psychology degree, when you get here if you want to own your own practice, you will have to further your studies. Getting a masters in school psychology, industrial psychology, etc will greatly improve your chances of making good morning. Getting a PhD, in any of thr above mentioned will set you up for generations. If your work hard you might be making up to 500 thousand dollars a year.

Now for the bine of contention. If you have just your bachelor's in psychology, you can sit for certain certifications, depending on the state you are in. Let's use Texas as an example, because that's where I reside. You cam earn as much as $100 per hour just doing evaluations for peopel who are about to do surgery to determine if they are in teh right frame of mind. The company you work for creates the template and all you do is ask the patients questions, fill out there paperwork and note if there are any red flags. It's as simple as that. Stop this nonsense of saying degrees are useless. With a bachelor's degree, the least amout of job you can get is $25 per hour, unless you are not a confident person.

Let's call a spade a spade

Your Geography degree did not get you a job with Amazon.

Anybody abroad even people without degrees can work in a warehouse in Amazon.
it did

I’m an area manager
You think they give out positions because they like you abi I started as an ordinary associate which doesn’t need degree and moved to a pa and they area manager which I applied for with my university degree couple with other certifications

De play

Why are you jumping around from applied math to statistics and then to GIS?? I understand that those courses have relationships, however, they are not exactly the same thing and that could pose a serious challenge for you in terms of specialty. So where is your specialty now? GIS or applied math or statistics? I hope you are not planning on settling in the academia because you will be seen as a jack of all trade and master of none.

any of his CHOICE, here we dont dictate CAREER for kids.... they call us right time to have their MIND KNOWN to us and we are READY to SUPPORT 100%
no one CHOSE for me NA WAEC and jam drove me to that PATH, i did AGRIC ENGINEERING, want mech or AUTOMOBILE, i wish i have the chance my SON have today
I'm happy with your last statement. Because our children have the privileges and opportunities we didn't have, we must guide them to the right path. Even in US, a diploma in nursing pays more than PhD in agric engine.

I thought university courses were meant to reflect the demand in the country's labor market. In Nigeria, the popularity of STEM careers is declining, while roles like content creators are now the most lucrative career path grin
