No be only GDP, na PDP. Argentina is doing better GDP and owing about $500billion. IMF recently bailed them with debt of $20billion. NOI was having headache and struggling to pay salary with some useless GDP badge in office. States were borrowing heavily and unable to pay salaries that Buhari had to bail them a couple of times.
Today, companies are recording armed robber profits, states are getting more than double, reducing debts and not borrowing to do projects and "steal", and someone wants to be cursed with GDP.

Fun fact.
$1640 X 500= 820,000naira. Dollar was less than 500 before subsidy removal but let's be very nice.
$807 X 1500 =1,210,500 naira. Dollar is said to be 1,600 but let's be generous.
Na you know why you agree for gaslight. Better convert to CNG.
Can you see how naive and deceptive you are?

Why multiplying per capita income which is valued in US$ with the same US$ rate?

It's so glaring in your ugly face that the economy is in a terrible state and yet you are at one corner typing nonsense to deceive your gullible humans.

Just because of the little hand-out party agents are giving you, your conscience disappeared.

Obasanjo made most of the gain while Tinubu made most of the loss.

Re: Nigeria's GDP Per Government From 1999 - 2024 by ivandragon:
It is even worse when purchasing power is compared.

Nigerians have lost more than 500% of thier purchasing power in 10 years. No peacetime country has ever experienced such reduction.

In 1995, a 900g powered peak milk tin was sold for N65. With minimum wage at about N650, you could get 10 tins.

In 2006, the milk was about N350. With minimum wage at N5,500, you could buy 15+ tins.

In 2013, the milk rose to N650. With minimum wage at N18,000, you could buy 27+ tins.

Enter apc. In 2020, the milk was about N1,350. With minimum wage at N30,000, you could get 22 tins...

Enter bat. The milk cost N9,000 today and minimum wage is N70,000. That gives you 7+ tins of 900g powered peak milk...

It is clear that under pdp, the lot of the masses improved significantly, but under apc, and most especially bat, it has taken a nosedive. Nigerians were better off in 1995 than they are today. All the progress made from 1999 to 2014, has been destroyed by apc.

Yet, some persons want Nigerians to believe things are getting better...

What about the thousands of companies recording loses or even folding up. Only a few companies are doing well compared to those struggling. So it's unfair to base your argument on the few.
Re: Nigeria's GDP Per Government From 1999 - 2024 by CodeTemplarr: 8:27pm On Apr 25, 2025
Thw only reasonable explaination for the GDP crash under Tinubu is floating of Naira and removal of subsidy which affected input and thus output volume. What i cannot figure out is why it peaked suddenly under OBJ. Something wierd going on here.

Fake GDP that had Okonjo Iweala borrowing money to pay workers in 2014.
They have eaten Nigeria to the bone even before the arrival of Buhari.
With Nigeria making more than 2 million barrels per day and oil selling as much as 120 to 150 dollars, there was no development, strikes everywhere, unemployment etc were the order of the day after the exodus of Obasanjo.
Leadership is the problem of Nigeria.

If in your so-called 'educated' opinion, GDP per capita isn't a valid measure of economic performance, then please enlighten us; what do you propose as a more accurate metric for assessing Nigeria's economic woes?

Perhaps we can also assess things based on your expert opinion.

Yoruba and Hausa people keep making a terrible political decision ....they keep dragging this nation backwards

Obasanjo
Jonathan

These two administrations were manned by Igbo and Niger Delta and the result is here for everyone to see until the clowns and riff raffs came to Ojota via Occupy Nigeria protest and reduced this nation to this sorry state

Thank Lord the whole world have seen how they have maladministratered this nation to this sorry state

It will be corrected
Those two see politics as Chelsea vs Arsenal match, where the winner sing and play planks with the loosing team.

That's why you see those sycophants more in political party news. They are more concerned about pdp vs Apc vs lp. What Yoruba care about is 2027 election. Winning election is their main priority and primary assignment not development and good governance.

You can't see them In a sensitive thread like this that affects the general well-being and future of everybody. The same with the issue of security. Herdsmen killings and kidnapping people don't concern them. What concern them is winning election.

Those people no be am. I swear! We are just unlucky sharing a country with mentally backwards set of people.

See how tinubu and his incompetent cabinet destroyed Nigeria economy. Hyper inflation, High cost of good and services, insecurity, poor standard of living . Etc. Despite that's them and the north are the worst hit ot tinubu satanic economics policies. They still praised him as jagaban.

Their Stockholm syndrome no be here.

The calculations u did there showd u are clueless. Do Nigerians earn in dollars or naira? Gdp at 1.2m Naira isn't better than GDP at 820k Naira.

The economy has lost its purchasing power and value. It is beyond an economic disaster.

The lack of state-owned pipe-borne water in the homes of Lagos residents has continued to be a source of concern, a non-profit group, Corporate Accountability and Public Advocacy Africa (CAPPA) has said.

At a press event to mark this year’s World Water Day, the group said its monitoring team’s visit to state-owned waterworks showed that most of them are not operational.

The group said the waterworks it visited include the ones at Maryland, Mushin, Ikorodu, Obalende, Agbowa, Onikan, Ikoyi, and Amuwo Odofin.

Only the one in Ikoyi is producing water, according to CAPPA.

Emergingnation:
Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.

During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.

He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.

His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.

“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.

“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.

“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.

Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.
