I'm surprised Mikel truly believes he deserved it. As a Nigerian at the time, I felt hurt but looking back, you can't deny Yaya was in a class of his own. To me, he is the greatest African football of all time.

Mikel deserved CAF player of the year, he was instrumental to Chelsea’s champions league victory, he was also instrumental to Super Eagles triumphant outing that same year on the continent, he was even voted the player of the tournament by CAF, so yes he should been Ames the CAF player of year 2013..

His best game ever was in the 2012 semi-final second leg against Barcelona. Barca had over 70% possession but had only about 5 shots on target. Remember, John Terry got a red card in the 37th minute. Facing Messi, Iniesta, Busquets, etc. With 10 men. Barca had corner kicks upon corner kicks.

To come back from 2-0 down to draw. Not easy.

When Bosingwa was brought on for Cahill, I thought, Yeparipa. But he did well.

That was Mikel's best defensive game ever. Cole was superb too.
