Dukeolumidemans:You want to migrate to a country and continent where Nigerians and Africans are not known for migrating? https://www.nairaland.com/7788707/memoirs-chile/4#124873532 A lot of you young people in Nigeria don't understand that due to the colour of your skin, it's not every country you should visit or migrate to. Una no dey hear |

How I wash my car in chile. I use the auto servicing stations. The first one is the one that comes with the soap, brush and the water. The last one has a vacuum cleaner, perfume and a detailer.

Akpaamunsi:If you made the country better when you were a politician, they probably won’t see the need to migrate. |

tensazangetsu20:Dr Akpa, Please do well to respond to this. You mentioned migrating to "unknown places" and you and everyone knows it's majorly Igbo youths, mostly male and increasingly female, that are notorious for japaing to dem Iraq, Pakistan, Indonesia etc. What did you do to proffer economic developments in the southeast while as a member of the national assembly? |
| Re: Memoirs From Chile by tensazangetsu20(op): 6:10am On Apr 26, 2025 |
Gerrard59:The fool is even a pdp member. Despite all the support the southeast had for pdp, they couldn’t even deliver a seaport in 16 years 😂😂 and people shouldn’t japa. |

Treadway:you are actually the one at fault here imho - because you have chosen to outsource everything related to the children to your wife., how often do you go grocery shopping? do you take the children with you when you do this? do you go with them to school to buy books or school uniform? why would you give your wife the money to pay for school fees when you can do this yourself? how often do your children come to disturb you about an assignment they have to do, or worn out shoes or bag, etc? do you pay attention? do you buy your kids school supplies, or clothes? do you know what they are into? do they ever come to talk to you about anything? you have to actively build a relationship with your children, and the earlier you do it the better if you have decided to play the role of an atm only dont be surprised that that is what you are seen as. you can complain that women manipulate children against their fathers - but lazy men walk right into it when they completely remove themselves from any part of running the home/ family. but this is not tensas story. tensa's story is one of active indifference by his father. there is no need to pretend that being a father automatically conveys a sense of responsibility onto an individual. you have to actively be a part of your children's lives on every level. children can also see when their parents are struggling, even if they don't fully understand at the time. thats why you hear people say - our parents did the best they could. tensa is saying - his dad did not do that. his dad did nothing. |

GloriousGbola:So much wisdom in this. Fatherly responsibilities go beyond money. Even without the were withal to handle things financially, you can still get involved in the other aspects of their lives. I totally understand and empathize Tensazangetsu20. Fine you no get money no mean say you no go still dey involved. |

GloriousGbola:there was a caveat I wrote 'Not referring to deadbeat dads' Yes, I actually do all this, and I'm very present in my children's lives. I have quit jobs and made otherwise crazy decisions just for family cohesion. I write about my family on here, if you check my history. I got an appointment in October in Lagos, subsequently locked up my house in Ibadan in December and moved my family to Lagos just cos I can't be away from them....ordinary Ibadan for here ooo. That should give you some insight. The point is, I didn't think it a big deal trfing lump sum money to my wife to pay for these things like school fees etc esp since she was the one taking them to school and doing those runnings more. Till today I don't know the names of the teachers of my daughters nor am in any WhatsApp group, but my wife does/is. I have my area of specialty and focus in the home and I don't worry about all those other things she is handling, just like she doesn't worry about the bills, or about the car, or fixing of this and that, or even how we manage the bills. I'm the chief handyman and financial controller of my household, I draw up the budgets and everything. So innocently giving my wife money to execute things wasn't a big deal, and still is not a big deal even now. It's just that I also realized it was better to let the kids explicitly know how e dey go, so there is no distortion whatsoever. They are kids, they didn't know anything, they were just 5 and 3. Now that they are 7 and 5 THEY KNOW cos I made it abundantly clear. No one, not even my wife can distort that one. The conversation with that babe gave me perspective, and that perspective was enough for me to make those changes. |

FEGEITOK:Brilliantly said! The first few paragraphs highlighted some of the pressing issues facing youths passionate about tech in Nigeria - heaps of challenges left, right and centre. In fact, passing these hurdles, let alone becoming a good programmer cashing out, has become increasingly difficult by the day. |

I sometimes wonder if I am the only one who migrated out of Nigeria and doesn’t miss Nigeria one bit. I don’t even want to visit Nigeria. I know some Nigerians in chile and they keep on reminiscing about Nigeria. When I think about Nigeria all that comes to my mind is Bleep Nigeria |
