Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, priest-in-charge of St Gerald Quasi Parish in Kurmin Risga, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been kidnapped.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Fr. Amos was taken away by suspected gunmen who broke into his residence in Kurmin Risga around 12:15 am, on Thursday.

The Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, confirmed the abduction of Fr. Amos.

He called on the Catholic faithful to unite in prayer for the safe and swift release of the kidnapped parish priest.

He stated, “With profound sorrow, we write to announce that Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, the Parish Priest of St. Gerald Quasi Parish, Kurmin Risga, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was abducted.

“The sad event occurred on Thursday, 24th April 2025, in his residence, Kurmin Risga, at about 12: 15 am.

“While we solicit your prayers for his quick and safe release, we invite the general public to avoid taking the law into their own hands.

“We will use every legitimate and available means to ensure that Rev. Fr Ibrahim Amos returns to us unharmed and in good health.”

He also invoked the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary to watch over the abducted priest and ensure his safe return.

When reached for comment on Thursday regarding the abduction, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mansir Hassan, told our correspondent, “I will call you back.”

As of the time this report was filed on Thursday, he had yet to get back to our correspondent as promised.

This is not the first time a Catholic priest has been abducted in Kaduna State.

Just last month, Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu was reportedly killed by bandits shortly after being kidnapped in the Kaura Local Government Area.

Until his death, Father Okechukwu served as the priest in charge of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Tachira, within the same local government area.

This tragic incident was also confirmed in a statement by the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan.

There's a deliberate attack against Christians in the North Central, especially in Kaduna state. Too many pastors and priests have been kidnapped and killed! The attack is likely from Muslim extremists and terrorists from Boko haram, who are stylishly labelled as bandits.

Every Christian in Nigeria must speak against this and ask for justice. We can't continue looking like this! It has been going on since Buhari assumed office! Christians wake up and defend yourselves!

Midnight raid, imagine. This is same state the military claimed they had neutralised bandits oo. I knew it was propaganda and damage
control as usual. The masses will speak again in 2027 and very loudly this time. Even if they put blindfolds on the northerners faces, they won't mistakenly vote tinubu in 2027. We're having our own share of insecurity down south. They're now in Ondo and ekiti-kwara border towns, unleashing mayhem.

Imagine what all these politicians are doing by defecting in droves into the same failed apc. They have forgotten that they have only one vote. They have jettisoned the power of the masses. I wish they'd learned from what happened in 2023 which they massively benefited from, especially the LP lawmakers up to the chairmen and wards councillors levels, who have recently defected to the apc. The majority of them wouldn't have neared those positions, had the masses not given then those winning votes. They apparently sacked the almighty apca and the pdp candidates in their various levels and positions.

People will annoyingly vote them out this time once again, same masses they've now abandoned to their fate after overwhelmingly voting them, exposing and rejecting handsome bribes from greedy candidates from the ruling party. How people suddenly forget the past in this country
