I have been trying to rationalize the sense in this blocking and couldn't figure out any.
Blocking only makes sense in a personal Timeline or page and not on a public page you do not have control over.

This is a public forum, this blocking feature will kill the fun of the forum. A forum is not a private space where people come to seek for solitude or privacy, it's a public space for sharing diverse opinions on issues of life.


This feature is not needed on the forum, if I am to advice you, shelve the idea asap.


Add dislike button.


If it is possible, let the comment that gets the highest number of likes or upvote be automatically moved to the first comment after the original post.

Since when did testing a new feature and giving feedback become an issue?

And being a moderator counts for nothing if mods are unaware of the development of new features and related conditions prior to release and public announcement.

Seun, could you make good this block feature you've introduced? I blocked helinues but still see their comment in other people's quotes here.

Can you write a wrapper function around comments? If the comment contains a quote whose author's name matches one of those on my block list, replace the quote content with "This content is unavailable because you have blocked this user". Something like this.

Yeah we should be able to do that.

The block system needs:

1. A blocklist.
2. It's not for you to decide when a user wishes to keep those they don't like blocked. Some wants them blocked forever to maintain their sanity. Judging from your disclaimer, if Nairalanders are solely responsible for what they post, Nairalanders should be responsible for what they consume. You can't force it on them. I know it's your forum but your admin status would be useless without users to administrate.
3. If the block feature is too heavy, you can do a "stop seeing this users post" for a timeline of "a week," "a month," "six months," or "forever." Or a simply "Ignore User till I change it."
4. A dislike button close to the Like Button is fine too.
5. I blocked a user but I can still see quotes from other users to the blocked user. I mean, I don't even wanna see the shadow of the blocked user. Fix the quoted text so that my blocked users remain blocked even while quoted.

By the way, this is a good step forward, Seun.

Only people that agrees with your post will see it. The opposition you want to see it have probably blocked you by then.
