First, he has an efcc case.
Two, he is no longer in power and if he wants to be relevant, at least for now, he must go with the incumbent governor. He has been an eight year governor and he understands what the one that holds power can do. Wherever Sheriff faces, he goes. The whole thing look like it was orchestrated by the governor. Others simply followed him.
And the governor too has his fear. He is an urhobo man and ibori and some other urhobo political stalwarts seem to be on apc side. He moved to checkmate their influence maybe.
At the end of the day, they are all protecting their interest. I know a big man who ordinarily wouldn't think of decamping but he currently enjoys the goodwill of the sitting governor, so he has joined in the defection.
