Nestle Nigeria Plc has continued its recovery path, reporting a pre-tax profit of N51.15 billion in Q1 2025, marking a strong rebound from the N196.086 billion loss posted in the same period of 2024.

This follows a return to profitability in Q4 2024 and signals growing stability in the company’s financial performance.

The unaudited results also show a post-tax profit of N30.178 billion, representing 121 year-on-year growth.

Insights
Nestle Nigeria has extended its recovery streak, turning in another profitable quarter. After bouncing back to profit in the last quarter of 2024, the company has kept that momentum going in early 2025.

The strong performance came from a big jump in sales, which grew much faster than the cost of producing its goods. This helped the company make more money from each sale, boosting its overall profitability. Even though it spent more on marketing and running the business, it still managed to increase its operating profit by more than double.

A major turning point came from a sharp drop in finance costs. Last year, the company lost a lot of money due to exchange rate changes. This time around, those losses almost disappeared, giving profits a significant lift.

The revaluation of foreign currency liabilities saw translation losses drop from N191.67 billion in Q1 2024 to just N163 million in Q1 2025.
Earnings per share more than doubled, showing that shareholders are seeing real benefits from the improved results.

Encouragingly, the company’s share price has seen a remarkable improvement this year, with a year-to-date gain of 25.7%, a sharp reversal from the 20.25% loss recorded during the same period last year.

When men like Tinubu governs, Companies flourish while Citizens has to work harder. Before Tinubu, Nigerians were spoilt brats. They will insult government for selling petroleum product around #150 per liter and japa to other countries just to buy same product around #1,500 per liter upward.

Ask them why they are not complaining about paying higher prices abroad and they will tell you there is job blablabla. Meanwhile the life they were living in Nigeria was way better than life they are living in their so called abroad. Now subsidy has been removed. No more free money. If you like stay in Nigeria or Japa, you will be paying high prices either way.

Now that Baba Tinubu is forcing everyone to register a business to open a business, it’s time to know what 30% - 40% income tax means abroad. If you like, no enter farming if you get money.

But what is the current purchasing power of that ₦‎295 Billion revenue in light of today's runaway inflation. huh

And Revenue is not profit as you still have to deduct higher cost of sales and operating expenses from that revenue before arriving at Net profit.

Its just the best in terms of numbers. The Naira has lost value and that big figure does not count.

If you ask them, they are not making profit.

When adjusted for ebilokan APC hyperinflation, we may see that it’s the worst performance of the company.

You don't understand what's going on... They use the incompetency of current government to skyrocket price of goods and services. Nobody will complain, you'll just accept its the way things are

If daily bread palliative for Yorubalokan people has not choked them and they have not died from hunger, starvation and stampeding them how do you expect this fake news to choke us?

Glimpsetv:
A large crowd of Lagosians was filmed in a long queue struggling to collect a loaf of bread. To maintain order, several military personnel were on the ground to control the crowd. This has triggered a lot of reactions online.

It's revenue, not profit. In this present economy, the cost of production is equally high. So, the difference between revenue and cost may not be huge.

Profit is the main thing, be guided.

An analysis on the huge figures.

A company in 2022 made a total of 5 million naira in profit for the calendar year. 5 million naira then could buy 1000 bags of cement. Say cement cost 5000 Naira per bag.

The same company in 2024 made a total of 10 million Naira in profit for the calendar year. 10 million Naira in 2024 bought 1000 bags of cement. Given cement at 10,000 Naira per bag.

The company can say they made twice their profit in 2024 when compared to 2022 but the purchasing power of the 10M is equivalent to 5M they made 2 years before.

Let’s judge. Did that company truly make any profits?
