It's the environment we found ourselves..... The church who is not ready to update members about the root of their problems or the Muslims that teaches begging as a religion culture and prioritize Islamic knowledge over secular education, what about the politicians that are manipulated by the west and are not ready to form a new futuristic curriculum that will make university degree a choice....so you can't blame those parent for handing over their problem to God. Peace

JAMB that I smashed twice when it was even paper-based. I'm sure if I write JAMB now that it's CBT, I'll ace it with a very high score.

God doesn't need our prayers in everything. He'll rather you follow the rules and do your own part very well!

Which holy spirit.. parents that will not discipline their children to study and read their books and prepare for exams...when they are with their children at home.. allowing their children to be playing around and spending more time In social media, TikTok....And

People will not speculate with their future. It is the lack of vision and direction by leadership that leaves the people to their fate, to their choices.

We still don't understand what governance is all about. It is about leading people along the lines of vision so that their futures are certain. Only then will they channel their resources after.

If the government were to have a vision for industrialization for example then it is easy to key educational quests into the masterplan, which like you say involves the acquisition of skills along the lines of future demands.

For example a masterplan to blanket the country with green energy will drive investment of all kinds including education and skills acquisition in that direction. Same thing with the extractive industry, same thing with agriculture and other mass employment sectors.

But what we have here is a toss up of resources in the name of business support grants for example leaving the people to imagine what they want to do with the potential resources and their lives in particular.

You simply cannot build an prosperous country like that and you certainly cannot develop without vison, planning and sound execution.

PS: You may be a bit young to remember but there was a time (like it is happening in parts of the west and much of Asia) that people went to college to target not only particular industries they wanted to work in but even specific companies they wanted to work for. Then industry worked closely with educational institutions as their defacto HR departments and consultants. Mt dad left Kings college with such a target and joined the firm straight out of university.

These ideals can be replicated even at these changed times. All it takes is visionary leadership at the highest levels because the potentials in Nigeria are there. Our poverty coupled with unproductivity means there are huge potentials for all sorts of educational-industrial combos in several sectors.

Just wish parents were tough to bend the children while paying their school fees to stay hardworking on their studies

I have come to realise some parents tagging JAMB as fake simply cos their children can't stand the transparency in the JAMB style

Atheist, Hindu, Muslims that do not believe much in God...write exams and pass and succeed in exams...so faith without works is dead...prayers alone cannot make one succeed in exams the student also have to prepare for the exams by reading and studying .. after praying the student must still read and study for the jamb exam

My parents were and are very religious, but when it was time for JAMB, they just dropped me off at the exam center, and turned up some minutes after the exam ended.

Prayer for the exam was limited to a brief appeal to God the night before.

I passed, especially the paper that I was fearing I would fail ...turned out to be the best of the lot, lol.

1. We are not an industrial country, so we don't have enough industries.

2. The real goal is to get a government job...and the best way is to start with a university qualification.

I don't recollect my parents following me to JAMB centre and back. Na me use my leg go there, write exam, come back. Got admission in one touch.

That was when JAMB was written at Godly hours. Now JAMB has turned the exams to 5am stuff. Would your parents had released you to leave your house by 4.30am, especially if you're a girl?

This mindset is one of the reasons why the country's development is thwarted. Everyone wants to go to school... the schools are wired to produce half-baked graduates, safe for those who want to put in the extra work and burn the night candle, these undergraduates are not willing to tow that path...zero recognition and pursuance of skills....

I just wonder what's wrong with many parents of nowadays. JAMB Maths now carries JS2 questions, even. Very simplified as compared to way back 2006 when I sat the paper test.

We can't blame govt and God for everything. Drill your child and get the best out of the child

Some hate JAMB cos it carries a sense of transparency as compared to the basket exam called SSCE ( WASSCE & NECO). But it's needed to filter the educational system of much mediocrity
