stormborn28:How is he stupid? He got his highest votes here. The removed chiefs supported kidnapping hence their removal. Always research before blabbing about what you don't know |

Chimarto:I AM AN ETSAKO MAN. HIS SECRETARY WAS CAUGHT COLLECTING MONEY FROM FULANI KIDNAPPERS. AND THE PERSON REPORTED THE MATTER TO THE COUNCIL OF CHIEF, BECAUSE HE IS ALSO A PALACE CHIEF. HE ALSO REPORTED THE MATTER TO THE AGENEBODE YOUTH LEADER. SOME DAYS LATER, KIDNAPPERS WAYLAID THE MAN AND WAS KILLED. THIS IS THE REASON WHY THE SECRETARY WAS ARRESTED. IT'S ALLEGED THAT THE ROYAL HIGHNESS MUST KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT THE KIDNAPPINGS IN HIS DOMAIN. THERE'S NO POLITICAL COLORATION TO IT. |

The situation in South Ibie is long overdue, and I hope this new development will help put an end to the inter-community conflicts that have led to the destruction of property and loss of lives. |

If the traditional ruler is complicit in the kidnapping incidents, then prosecute him. Otherwise, what are the security agencies doing? What can an ordinary 3rd class traditional ruler do in such situations? |

aswani:Naah, that part of Edo state has no Igbo community among them. However, there are traces of Igbo influence there. Below are the few influences I could gather. 1. The masquerades at Agenebode surely has connections with masquerades from Igboland. The resemblance is too much to be a coincidence. 2. In the whole of the Edo area, only at Uzebba was the popular Igbo Oja was found by Europeans who visited there over 100years ago. The anthropologist even recorded tune of the oja at Uzebba with a device of those days. You can still listen to the sound today online. The point is that people migrated back in the days to anywhere they found safe. Many non Igbos travelled and settled in different Igbo communities just as many Igbos migrated and settled among many other ethnic groups especially the Awka blacksmiths who settled even among Esans and Igalas. Igbos only consider a community as part of the larger Igbo nation if they still speak Igbo, practice the Igbo traditions and culture and bear Igbo names. This shows they're proud of their identity. If they lose these things, they are as good as lost. |
