Okay. That yellow Card dampen Saka. I noticed they use 3v1 for our wingers and we have 0 box presence for any cross whatsoever. Meaning Enrique don study this aspect well well to go ahead with 3v1.

Rice is really overwhelmed today that Merino for Midfield is a no no... his marking of space is terrible for me

And Trossard and Ode (especially the latter) has been a mess for weeks now.
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Roland17(m): 10:15pm On Apr 29, 2025
Odegaard has been uninspiring to watch. Totally unwatchable right now.

The detail with their own plan whenever Saka or Martinelli gets the ball

They know no runners or nobody to call for a cross this very instance. So they just stay compact, while one comes to pressure up.
Rinse and Repeat.

Merino has never had 5/10 game for Arsenal in midfield since he came. It's that terrible.

Personally, it is an insult to PSG by MA to try him there when he couldn't even do anything there vs Everton, Bou, Forest, etc that are not as dangerous as PSG.

Exactly💯
Partey absence affected our midfield and forward cause of the stability he brings, the 3v1 on Saka wouldn’t have happen cause Partey would’ve taken control of the midfield thereby creating space for Rice and Ordegarrd(even tho he’s been shite thus season) to move up and Saka and Merino able to penetrate them, I wouldn’t call Nelli cause that boy has brainfart

For me , I actually think it was a case of finishing.

Honestly, they were not better than us. We missed our chances , Trossard and Martineli were shooting like nobody at the goal post.

We utilized our chances when we met them earlier, defence was very observant.

It is in our hands to decide id we want to qualify or not because PSG can be beaten at home

They are terrible at the back and so they did 2 things, try to overload. And them block the route that stops us from gaining possession our typical left to right way. So we had lots of back passes to Raya which they didn't mind. Plus see how they dragged away our midfielders whenever ball was with Mendes? It was an eyesore. I watched the Cbs analysis of the goal and these guys planned well to drag Rice away and Merino and Martinelli were tooo static up to that goal.

Rice was always running and nobody was covering his out of space. That's one of the demerits of Merino in midfield. Even worse is Trossard. Guy thinks a middle role is for dribbling. He can't even backtrack after losing a ball.
A case was made for Saka defensive duties to be reduced next season using Kvara and Dembele as case study. I agree with that POV.

If we win 2-1, straight to PK.

Guy felt it all 90. He knew why Rice was furious. It also brings me down to the aspect I've been screaming about since last year -We need to address these useless yellow cards issues. These players get yellow for the dumbest reasons and it need to change. Abi they dunno this is UCL semifinals ni? It's unfair to Rice at this point.
The good thing is it is 1-0. They should overturn that. But before then, we have Bournemouth.

Let's see how MA manages selections cos that bench was embarrassing. Reminded me of the bench for Bayern last season.

Going back to the game, all I can say is what I have been saying
Arteta is very stubborn, if this man is winning trophies I can cut him some slack but he's not
Merino in the midfield is a disaster he knows this everyone does, MLS should have played there and we saw what he can do, white at RB will help us alot in that game because PSG were pressing aggressively from the front, if you guys noticed raya started playing long ball this is something white can do with ease eg his assist against lfc
Like davep said, this man should warn his players against stupid bookings, we are not known for this
I still believe in the boys and martinelli should start from bench

We lost by 1 goal. So a simple win will either make us qualify or take it to penalties.

At this stage we know we have to go out and attack. But we also have to know how to control the game. The one/two goals we need can even come in the last ten minutes

If MLS plays midfield who will play LB? Plus how do you blame Arteta for 31 yo Partey getting a stupid yellow?

I don't like that you bring it just down to the 1-0 without the events that led to that overall. It's the semis. We got overwhelmed until 27th minutes and by then, we already knew we can't play the usual possession game with how PSG were attacking us. Saka reacting that way sums up the mental angle even if he was on the right side. Ucl semis and our bench is the wackiest I've seen for any cup game in a KO stages in the last 15years. Chai. Arteta sef. The player he no suppose trust for something he go dey over trust. The one he supposed put faith in, he go dey overthink dey over shalaye why he doesn't want to risk it.

PSG are as desperate as Arsenal to win the CL. In fact in recent times they have been closer to it. They also have more experienced players in these kind of situations. Just like Inter, they went for an early kill. I will also say we were a little bit unfortunate not to have scored. Because as the game wore on, we started to dominate. If we continue from where we stopped, I am sure we will progress.

The team is depleted by injuries. This is the semi finals of the CL and not a time for experimenting. He has to trust the legs he knows.

Maybe he's not appreciated in Europe buh most fans and non-fan alike here in Africa and perhaps US ( cos have heard ESPN, Peacock analyst sing his praises many times) know he is the real deal.

Not only the midfield sef the team underperformed, whenever Dembele and co. press Saliva and Kiwior they began to shake like a leaf not anywhere as close to comfortable as Marquinohs and co.
