Tinubu: We Must Address Security If We Genuinely Need Investments In Nigeria by Kuginzi(op): 5:36am On May 04, 2025
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to reclaiming ungoverned spaces across the country, especially forests in the North West.

The President, who made the promise when he addressed Katsina elders and leaders at a state dinner at Government House, during his recent trip to the state, promised to deploy advanced surveillance and technology to combat kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism in the region.

Speaking on the prevailing insecurity, Tinubu said, “I agree that security is a challenge for the country. I addressed the men and women of the Armed Forces earlier today and assured them that we will do everything to fight terrorism and banditry.

"We will invest more in technology and take over the forests. Security is a national issue, not just at the local or regional levels. If we genuinely need investment in Nigeria, we must address security.

"Investment is cowardly, and it will not go where there is banditry and terrorism. We will solve the problem together with the states and local councils,” he said.

President Tinubu highlighted encouraging signs of Nigeria’s economic recovery, attributing recent positive growth indicators to bold policy decisions.

The President said the federal government would consider upgrading the airport in Katsina State to create jobs and expand the economy.

President Tinubu also assured that victims of terrorism will receive support to pick up their lives.

The President thanked Aminu Bello Masari for his role in ensuring that he got the endorsement of the North West and emerged as the APC presidential candidate.

The President also thanked the governors who honoured the invitation of the Katsina State Governor for the commissioning of projects and his daughter’s wedding.

The governors were those of Kaduna, Jigawa, Borno, Benue, Yobe, Sokoto, and Kwara States.

President Tinubu acknowledged the leadership roles of Katsina indigenes in the country and described President Muhammadu Buhari as a man of integrity who contributed significantly to Nigeria’s development.

In his remarks, Governor Dikko Radda said the state had established a security outfit that gathers and supplies intelligence.

Trusting politicians and following what they say is a total waste of time and energy. They only talk to get noticed. So many of them look for a way to make terrible statements in order to get noticed and get drafted into government. For Example, Reno, Bwala etc

May be with this, some northerners would have a rethink about creating insecurity in their own region just to score some yeye political scores

The places that are secure are still struggling to attract development not to talk of insecure places

I don't know who is the we o. Abi Na my father or me. We just have unserious president right now. There is no we, tell us how you are addressing it jor. Is not about gathering service Chiefs o. We want to see executive order we want to see people jobs in the line if they can't fight back insecurity. In Yobe State four soldiers are dead already. Terrorist are just attacking our base left right and centre. The truth is this the government is playing with Northern security. They are allowing this to thrive because if this same thing happened in the East of Nigeria we know how they will deploy soldiers immediately to destroy the terrorist there. They mostly want to kill Igbo whether terrorist, criminals or not. But Northern bandits are given green light.

Dear President Tinubu,

Enough with the recycled diagnosis—we’ve known the disease for two decades. Insecurity in forests, terrorism, banditry, kidnappings—all old headlines.

What Nigerians need now is execution, not another elegant recital of problems we’ve memorized through tears and trauma.

We don’t need another summit. We don’t need more gratitude to past endorsements. We need you to show up with solutions, implement them ruthlessly, and show results.

You say “investment is cowardly.”
Then be brave.
Reclaim the forests, deploy the tech, and dismantle the terror economy. Talk less, deliver more.

Every day you delay, farmers are displaced, children are orphaned, and confidence in the state erodes further.

Leadership is not therapy. We don’t need to be reminded of our trauma. We need to see its end.

Respectfully—but firmly,
Nigerians who still believe in functional governance.

You are not a serious fellow. After all these talk u will not back it up with any action.

We criticised Buhari as Baba Go Slow but you are Baba Go Stop.

The sacking of Fubara made me realise our leaders are deliberately stupid. So they have the ability to address insecurity but look the other way except it affects their political interests.

It's really sad a president still sees himself as opposition...

Who the hell is he talking to? The same thing he said to campaign against Jonathan is what he is still repeating 10 Years later after his party took over power and now president

If the normal masses complain about Security the President is also doing the same. My Nigeria my country, always sleeping in its shadow

They do prijects just for job creation sake. No long term planning incorporated into the projects.

Who is the WE?

The WE has told you to tackle insecurities in the country since like 2 years ago.
Did he forget.
Oh, shetima will handle security while the president handles the economy. A beautiful rhetoric.
The handlers of security has failed.
The handlers of economy has failed

Why can't he place instant order for security surveillance camera immediately, abi money to place order no dey ? always making promises.

If I need camera in my house right now , I'll place the order on alibaba and i'll get it in two weeks' time max. There's something these people are not telling us. Every countries have cameras every where , we have almost none except the ones that will monitor your cars in lagos when you break traffic rules so that they can fine you.

It's not complex to solve the security issue , they just don't want to do it. UK has approximately 6 million CCTV cameras, US has around 50 million. China has over 200 million cameras. We have almost none and we have money to buy these cameras. Almighty God will judge this people

Yet no state of emergency declared in all those terrorists ridden states!

You are in charge of the security apparatus of the country, so I'm wondering who the 'we' are.

The terrorists decided to prove to you that you're all talk by attacking a barracks, while you were ironically visiting other soldiers. We've not heard any response from you to that event.

Of course expecting you to do something is wishful thinking, if it's not you getting monies approved for you and your cronies comfort
